  • In response to Sónar‘s parent company being bought out by KKR, a large number of artists have withdrawn from the festival. Animistic Beliefs, a self-described “bi-cultural” duo based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, were one of the artists that led the charge. “We’re stepping away because Sónar is owned by Superstruct, which is backed by KKR – an investment firm that has profited off war, climate destruction, and systems of oppression for decades. We don’t want to be part of that,” they wrote in an Instagram post dated April 21st 2025. “We know no space is free from contradiction. But somewhere, the line has to be drawn.⁣⁣⁣ Maybe you’ve felt something like that too.⁣⁣⁣ For us, it stops here⁣⁣,” their statement says. More names such as Julianna Huxtable, ABADIR, James Ferraro, Colin Self, Manuka Honey

So Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) owns Superstruct Entertainment.

Special thanks to all this artists for standing up for what's right.

This is good to know. Thank you for posting this.

  • No - it's simpler than that: I meant what I said.

  • What Microsoft did was absolutely inexcusable.

But, really, not just for this alone.

As for the DoD enlisting Microsoft, given the latter's decades-spanning horrible reputation, I don't know what to say.

  • But as difficult and expensive as it will be for US allies to escape the enshittification of American power—it will be much harder for Americans to do so, as that power is increasingly turned against them.

So, in other words, the victims are the people - regardless if they're in Europe or the Americas.

It almost seems as if it's the people versus the broligarchs. Or the oligarchy, for that matter.

  • The office of Ohio Republican U.S. Sen. Jon Husted has deleted a social media post after being asked about the message it sent. The post on X claimed that President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a “pro-family” bill” for “working class families.”

The law will take health insurance and food support away from thousands of low-income, working Ohioans. The post touting it pictured Husted laughing it up with two men who appear to be prominent special-interest lobbyists.

Husted’s office hasn’t responded to a request for comment.

    No words for this.

  • Word.

You are absolutely right. Thank you for pointing this out, OP.

  • Sweet Mother Mary, Pocan roasted the moron:

At 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, Van Orden told Pocan on X “seek mental health counseling” after Pocan criticized the sweeping policy bill the president signed into law. Six hours later, Pocan shot back online, “Only an idiot both votes to cut Medicaid and can’t spell it.”

Mr. I Hurl Obscenities At Young Pages actually spelled it "Medicade". That does not look like a mistake that can be blamed on autocorrect, making the roasting very painful indeed.

  • This is beautiful - and a noble service for humanity. Thank you for posting this, OP!

  • Thank you for sharing, OP. Please keep doing what you're doing. I wish you could get compensated for this. You rock.

  • To all the leftists in this thread, thank you for standing up to OP's willful spreading of misinformation. I was very impressed by how everyone called OP out.

  • This is beautiful - thank you, OP.

  • Yet despite the increase in funding and constant praise and support from the White House, many agents are becoming disillusioned with daily pre-dawn raids, excessive overtime work, and the moral dilemma of routinely targeting migrants with no criminal histories.

“No drug cases, no human trafficking, no child exploitation; it’s infuriating,” another ICE agent told Miroff, who added that he was leaning towards quitting the agency rather than continue “arresting gardeners.”

I'm glad a moral dilemma is manifesting itself - even if so late.

  • I appreciate you, OP, and I'm sure I speak on behalf of many here on Lemmy. Your posts are very enlightening. Thank you so much for all that you do.

I imagine you must be a history teacher, historian, or something to that effect. (No need to respond to that.)

  • Hi, I came here to up-vote this comment. Thank you, and yes, I clearly recall.

  • You're a good, kind, knowledgeable soul. Please keep being you.

  • This rocks - I'll be there! The protests are therapeutic and our numbers are increasing. See you on the street, dear reader. We are many.
