  • There is an update with a clarification that says income won't be considered:

Update, April 16, 2025: On April 15, the Department of Education filed an amended declaration, clarifying that for the ICR, IBR, and PAYE plans, “married borrowers filing separate income tax returns or separated from their spouses will have the spouse counted in the family size for the purposes of calculating monthly payment amount under IDR plans.” The declaration removes the reference to spousal income being factored in for married borrowers who file separate tax returns.

  • Witnessed a car crash a few years ago right in front of me because of this. I was the second car in line heading south at a traffic light. When our light turned green, a car heading west in the late afternoon ran the red light and smashed into the car in front of me.

I saw them coming and said, "Watch out!" but of course that did no good. The driver of the westbound car said she lost the traffic light in the sun and didn't realize it was red. I have no idea why you'd continue on at 40 mph if you weren't sure you had a green light, but here we are.

I had chosen that route home intentionally to avoid driving into the sun. Had I been the first car in that line, I might have been involved in the crash despite my caution.

  • Mine managed to hit the power button on the top of the case a few times. I like that location for the power button, but it's not so great with cats. I now have something over the button so he doesn't press it.

  • I mean, a fossil record of a bunch of creatures is pretty interesting.

But I think it ranks up there with quicksand in the "dangerous things we thought we'd encounter much more regularly in adulthood" category.

  • I love Geordi's horror at realizing Data now gets every joke he's ever heard and may feel the need to retell them.

I haven't seen Dark Matter so I have no opinion on this question, other than the answer is always Star Trek.

  • I've had a few false alarms on my Garmin. They were all situations where I stopped very quickly, once after going off the road, but I kept the bike upright every time.

On the other hand, it didn't go off when the guy in front of me took out my front wheel at 40 mph a few weeks ago. I didn't fall them either, but I slowed down very quickly (and my heart rate went up very quickly). So I'm not sure how it's triggered.
