The page you link has the foundation's leadership structure. He's a cochair on the board with 8 total people. The board is a degree removed from day to day operations of the foundation. He'd have to convince the board to then convince the executives.

That transaction would then show up in their financial statements, which are audited and publicly posted on that website. Meaning using the foundation's money for something like a private jet would likely become public knowledge within a couple years and would do irreparable harm to the foundation's reputation. Maybe they could hide it but good luck convincing everyone involved it's worth the risk without a shitload of additional corruption.

That's not really true despite what Oracle claims. Even without dropping money for Oracle's 2030 support, there's been 9 releases to OpenJDK 8 so far in 2024. Amazon has guaranteed OpenJDK 8 LTS through 2026 as "corretto" for justifying it to corporate compliance teams.

Everyone really should upgrade but it's going to be several years yet before it's an actual security risk.

I could do without the vast majority of new characters they added in remake who all (every single damn one of them) decided to leave Midgar and through some magic coincidence show up in rebirth. But chief among them is Chadley (and Mai or whatever his female version is called). I get they needed a mechanic for trials but would it have killed them to add a fourth rest stop item that's a VR booth? (Or replace the SP one, make it so there's a reason to use the shops in the towns more than once.) He's really unneeded for the Intel stuff, they could have solved that with the Mobile PHS and dialogue from your party members.
