  • Taking our heads out of the sand is a start. I would go into more detail but I checked your profile and I don’t think I’ll convince you of anything so we will just leave it here. Not in the mood for an argument over the same shit that keeps happening in this country.

  • This makes me incredibly sad. We can't have shit in this country due to pathetic and incompetent governance. What's worse is that it will take a generation of time for us to dig out of this hole even if we start moving 100% in the right direction, today. It makes me sick.

  • I’ve largely stopped using them. I only buy from them if I cannot find what I need elsewhere which is quite rare.

  • That is not why I brought attention to this partnership. It was to point out that DDG was still willing to associate with and partner with Brave. Folks who are hyper-opposed to supporting Brave due to their CEO may not know this.

  • I don’t separate countries by arbitrary terms like “third world.” It’s a country and people live within it.

  • Come to the midwest of the USA. You'll find all of that shit out here, too, if you know where to look.

  • Respectfully, punching down does nothing but make people who are suffering feel worse. Posting here about how much better you have it than us isn’t helpful. We already know how messed up it is here.

  • I pay for Kagi and it works better than Google. Nobody is astroturfing for them, you’re just paranoid.

  • Yep, I use Kagi as well. Great results!

  • Even though I am on macOS, I have thought about leaving them, too. Mostly because I am paying a lot and their tertiary services such as calendar, drive and pass are lackluster. It feels like I am paying a steep price for them to focus on offering new products that are worse than the competition. With things like 1Password and iCloud drive (with advanced data protection enabled), it is hard to justify paying Proton hundreds of dollars for Mail and VPN alone.

  • It's good that they are doing this, but Linux support across the board is abysmal. I don't think Linux users should have to expect the bare-minimum out of a company that charges high prices for their service.

  • I think I like the bridge approach more. Let me use my own client for mail and calendar etc rather than these siloed apps.

  • The rodent is like “well, not what I had in mind but all right.”

  • Only if you're not using AARCH64 based containers. At my job, we leverage the appropriate containers and performance is insanely good.

  • So you DO get my point, yeah? Elephants in the room should be considered first and foremost. Drinking non-paper filtered coffee every day is trivial to your risks of getting cancer compared to so many other things in our environment. I hope it clicks for you. :)

  • Developers are often the ones setting up the environments now via things like Terraform. IT is still needed for on-prem work though.
