I’m just imagining a not-so-distant future where there’s $200 set-top boxes that can hook up to any HDMI port and have a current-gen cloud console and a nearly fully functional PC. Or cloud laptops that have W365 bundled in as part of a 5G service.
Oh man can Laurie be a conspiracy-minded agent like Moulder?
Ooh and Keanu keeps on downplaying or disproving his theories. And then eventually Laurie is right and Keanu is like “Whoa”.
Shit writes itself.
My suspicion is that home installations will still be available at retail or OEM channels.
The subscription likely applies more to enterprise and possibly Windows 365. Enterprise licensing is a mess which might actually be simplified by a subscription pay-what-you-actually-use model.
Also it’s be cool to see windows 365 come to consumers as an alternative to a full PC. Would be able to standardize on home thin-client builds, or possibly add it as a feature to the Xbox Platform.
And that’s why it suits the Democratic Party to tone down the progressive wing and focus on attracting moderates. If Donald breaks his party in two, then we’ll have a repeat of Perot in 96 or Nader in 2000. In both cases there were plenty of votes for the alternative candidate just in a few key districts that would have totally flipped those respective elections had they gone to the first-party candidate more closely aligned with them.
Not true. People go to the zoo in hopes of watching the animals fuck.
You’d have better luck watching the pandas than 4chan if that’s what you’re into.
If we need more parties and more voices, then we need voting reform. FPTP always devolves down to two primary parties. Any secondary party would just be spoiler candidates.
Trump is splintering his party though. Progress can’t happen as long as he’s around, Democrats have to pick up “moderates” (on the US Scale) and that puts everything else on pause. Pushing a progressive agenda now would just amplify Trump and potentially pull those moderates to him.
Ask Toy Story Football.
What an embarrassment that was. I hope it got better, I could only bear like half of the first quarter.
This is America.
Most the shows he listed he’s giving examples of existing shows. And actually, his Police Procedural sounds exactly like the Peacock-Original “Poker Face”, except without Jedi…lead character (Natasha Lyone) is essentially a human lie detector. Great easy-watching bingable crime-comedy, IMO.
My kid was on a tee ball team with the coaches youngest son. The coaches two older sons were assistant coaches and the youngest was named “Maverick”.
Like, yeah, that kids set up to become an MLB Superstar. Or at least a washed-up alcoholic former Double-A in player.
Funny story, specifically on the name “Idaho”, from Wikipedia’s article on the state, “Etymology” Section:
The name's origin remains a mystery.[9] In the early 1860s, when the U.S. Congress was considering organizing a new territory in the Rocky Mountains, the name "Idaho" was suggested by George M. Willing, a politician posing as an unrecognized delegate from the unofficial Jefferson Territory.[10] Willing claimed that the name was derived from a Shoshone term meaning "the sun comes from the mountains" or "gem of the mountains",[11] but it was revealed later that there was no such term and Willing claimed that he had been inspired to coin the name when he met a little girl named Ida.[12] Since the name appeared to be fabricated, the U.S. Congress ultimately decided to name the area Colorado Territory instead when it was created in February 1861, but by the time this decision was made, the town of Idaho Springs, Colorado had already been named after Willing's proposal.
The same year Congress created Colorado Territory, a county called Idaho County was created in eastern Washington Territory. The county was named after a steamship named Idaho, which was launched on the Columbia River in 1860. It is unclear whether the steamship was named before or after Willing's claim was revealed. Regardless, part of Washington Territory, including Idaho County, was used to create Idaho Territory in 1863.[13] Idaho Territory would later change its boundaries to the area that became the U.S. state.[14]
Martini. Marti for short, which has the benefit of being ungendered.
He had one on jukeboxes a long time ago, I think. Not quite a game but still coin-op.
Ah there in is the trick. The content is actually pretty meh. But he presents it in a really interesting way.
I love his nerdy awkwardness. The deadpan humor is top-notch too, though.
To be clear, there’s one lie and then that lie got spun into something pro-Israeli.
Jake Sullivan told CNN on Sunday that Israeli officials told him they had turned the water back on in southern Gaza. But the spokesman for Israel’s energy and water ministry, Adir Dahan, said it was only flowing at a single location in southern Gaza.
Sounds like Jake got told the same lie, and he spun it and omitted the “one location” part. Dahan lied (saying it was on at one location when it wasn’t) and Sullivan made it sound even better by conveniently dropping the “one location” part and implying that water is fully restored.
From Sullivans perspective he may be reporting the “truth”, based upon what he knows/knew at the time, but said it in such a way to imply the Israelis are better than he “knows”.
Is “sweet pee” an appropriate pet name for a T1D SO? Asking for a friend.
Dude if you’re a parent with a friend group of other parents in your school district, there will absolutely be hand-me-downs going all over the damn place.
My kids have so many clothes that they’ve never worn because we just keep passing clothes around, between their friends and cousins, everyone is growing so fast, it’s foolish to be spending a ton of money on brand new clothes unless we need something for a specific special occasion.
I’m sure school uniforms, as long as they are consistent, would be swapped around. I’m sure there would be parent groups forming on Nextdoor and Facebook to swap clothes. And I’m sure they would show up at the thrift stores.
Secondhand uniforms would not be a problem.
But honestly the most important part is that schools don’t treat it as a fundraiser. They should be able to buy in bulk and coordinate with neighboring districts on selection to maximize discounts, and sell at slightly above cost in order to offset free/reduced cost outfits for low income families.
In other words, in theory, it should be less expensive to dress your kids in school uniform.
Personally I think uniforms solve a lot more problems than they cause. They sacrifice a bit of self-expression (at least the older kids, who mostly dress and style themselves), but at the same time, it takes a big hit out of financial inequality bullying. Combined with universal lunch programs it basically destroys it.
That in itself is worth it. Kids getting bullied (or feeling empowered, for that matter) for things 100% out of their control (like the caste they’re born into) shouldn’t be a thing.

On my phone the linebreak in the title was after the “positive” and I seriously braced myself for a vampire pandemic.
