I play on Linux. Steam offers amazing support for windows games, Epic goes out of their way to make Linux gaming harder. That means it's a hard no for me. Steam or DRM-free so I can tinker with it myself.

Not having children can also at best have a net zero impact. If we're taking opportunity costs for future actions into account, the single highest reduction in emissions for an individual is to die.
In day to day life, veganism has the single highest impact. Still, I'll never have (non -adopted) children, emissions are a part of it, but mostly because I don't want to bring someone into the world that's so thoroughly fucked at the moment

I do think there's potential for great things there, but the technology is almost exclusively in the hands of 3 companies and will have a terrible impact on everyone else. He compared LLMs to the creative writing center of the brain, as in they're really nice to interact with, output things that sound correct, but ultimately are missing the capabilities of reasoning and factuality that are needed for AGI

In Germany, protestors repeatedly shut oil pipelines off and locked themselves to the valves to prevent their reopening, blocking oil flow for several hours every time. I consume a lot of news, both mainstream and in my leftist bubble. That story barely registered anywhere.
The exact same protestors threw mashed potatoes at a Van Gogh. They were the main headline for over a week.
Hell, some guy set himself on fire a few years ago and it was in the news for half a day.
The media blackout is real, but it's not a huge conspiracy. It's just that the media reports on what gets them clicks, and nothing generates clicks like outrage. That's why so much reporting also conveniently forgets to mention that the paintings are protected by plexiglass and nothing ever got damaged. But all the controversy gets people talking, and some people will inevitably question what drives people to do something like that. That is the real objective. If they wanted to be popular, they'd to greenwashed recycling videos on YouTube instead, or whatever else is hip with the neoliberal peddlers of personal responsibility at the moment.

There was plexiglass in front of it. JSO has not permanently damaged anything, as far as I know. Quite the contrary, they take precautions to take care not to damage cultural artifacts. You know what doesn't? Climate change.

I'm 21 and live in Germany. A few months ago my egg cracked, so I use she/her now. At the moment I study physics, but I'm also interested in IT (and cyber security, but I know way less about that than I'd like to), politics and TTRPGs. So far, so cookie-cutter trans girl, right?
Well, the revolution will be won in thigh highs, and if the quickest way to get those is to install Arch, who am I to complain. I initially found this instance through !c/196, since I've been lurking on r/196 for a few years now (and breaking the rule numerous times >:3), but I deleted my r\*ddit account a good bit ago, and never looked back. I've since discovered the fediverse, and I really like how quaint it is here. Being able to catch up on all posts, and quickly recognizing users is really cool!
Some other random facts about me:
- I've recently got into freediving and just broke four minutes :D
- I'm biromantic, but still figuring out where I sit on the ace/bi spectrum
- I've been doing some organizing and direct action for climate protests for years now, and got arrested by the cops a few times
- In my activism I decided to go vegan, but since then it's not about the climate anymore, I just like animals too much <3

So, my egg finally cracked a few weeks ago. And while generally dysphoria isn't terrible for me at the moment, one thing that is really making me uncomfortable is my body hair. I've always been pretty hairy, so I bought an epilator a while ago, and while I'm really happy with it for my legs (smooth legs are aweeesome!), I'm having a hard time on my belly and chest. There's just so much and it regrows so quickly, and with how sensitive these areas are, I'm having a hard time keeping up.
Do you have any other tips or ideas, or do I just have to power through? I've heard it gets better if you do it often, but I can't feel much of a difference yet
And how are your experiences with body hair on HRT? I'm not on E yet, but would you say it gets better?
