  • We also need a push for lowering our energy consumption, put some industries into some for of subsidised hibernation just like restaurants during covid. Turning off the lights of a bunch of monuments is a nice symbol, but we use so much power (= gas) in non-essential industries. For example the production of furtilizer, an essential good that requires loads of gas, can be cut back a lot with more efficient food consumption (/ less food being wasted). We are used to a lot of luxury and this greatly increases the power LNG-exporting countries hold over us.

  • This reply by @pelespirit@sh.itjust.works on the original post may help someone here:

    Imperfect Allies Aren't Enemies

    • Critique to build, not tear down
    • Organize, don't just argue
    • Movements win, not individuals
    • Perfection is the enemy of progress
    • Ego kills movements
    • Plan for the long game
    • Meet people where they are
    • Power doesn't care about feelings
    • Division is a weapon used by elites, don't play along
  • Crazy that someone checked the facts and shares about it and 3 hours later only has 5 upvotes including the one I just gave. Thank you. Maybe next time you should begin your comment with # HERE IS THE CONTEXT GUYS!

  • I think you're confused. They make up their mind all the time, then check if everyone sold/bought stocks and than they make up their mind again. Then they check if everyone sold/bought stocks and on and on.

  • The is this scene in the wire where a criminal informant (who is a drug addict) acts as if he sells hats to a group of higher up drug dealers a way to tell the cops about their identity. During this interaction he only puts the red hat on the important people while they are being photographed from afar so he can later tell the cops about their names and position. Smart Trump doesn't need a hostile informant to help the cops.

These pins will later help the justice system identify his friends.

  • I don't think you understand the meaning of free market or didn't fully read the article, because their problem is the free market wanted to sell it and a Chinese firm bought it. They no longer want to sell vital infrastructure to Chinese firms and thus no longer want that part of the market to be free.

  • I'm not saying they suddenly switched sides, most of him defend him like usual, but there is both people on tv who say they're disappointed in them as people I know personal. They are losing credibility since they are in the government.

  • Here in the Netherlands the far right party became the biggest after the second largest party tried to win votes by saying they think their voters are right (it didn't, some of their voters moved to the far right party after they validated their points in the open). They are now part of a coalition and for the first time I hear public criticism of their own voters, because exactly as you point out their incompetence is showing. They made promises they can't keep for example. It's better they are not the outsider / underdog that can harness the people's dislike of the government.

  • This is in Rotterdam and I live there, tram 10 is a tourist sightseeing tram that is old and vintage, they won't want to damage it. Also I think the tram is a lot less powerful than modern trams and also the ram is probably very heavy.

  • It be less turned of by that. Same for flowery lawn, lawn flowers and a lawn full of flowers. But the mixed languages in this case sound very obnoxious to me. To be fair, if it was called fleurs de pelouse or fleurs d'herbe (which Google translate thinks is proper french) i would ask the people working there what kind of flowers they were, so i guess it is kind of original. Still don't like it, but I don't care if anyone else likes it. Everyone is free to their opinion, just wanted to express my negative opinion for no meaningful reason.

  • Speeding and drink driving play a big part in traffic deaths and also the cost of fixing all the people who do survive is totally preventable so I am all for it. Progressive fines sound very fair too, misbehaving companies in some cases also pay a percentage of their profit so why not citizens as well.
