Depends on which guideline they break. The 41% one will probably be an insta-ban. Others will likely be an initial warning followed by temp bans escalating to a permaban.

Good point, that's definitely something I see fairly often. I don't like it myself (also trans), but should be on here.

Reminder, the SC didn't rule that trans people had to be excluded from gender segregated things, only that they could. Labour doesn't have to do this, they're choosing to, and even if they did, they're the fucking government. The main government proposal is to let AI firms use copyright-protected work to build their models without permission, unless the copyright holders signal they do not want their work to be used in that process – a solution that critics say is impractical and unworkable.

The critics are right, this sounds ridiculous. Like, how would it work if a work is updated to include such an opt-out, does the copyright holder have to tell every AI company about the change, or do AI companies have to continuously monitor the material they use for updates? It better not be the later as AI companies are already bad enough with their horrendous scraping of the web.

It's critical support because it's hypocritical.

Apparently this is based on a law from 1861, so it's about as British as you can get.

I'm sure the 'protect women' lot will now fight the UK's regressive abortion laws as hard as they've campaigned against trans people.

But it is seriously fucked up that we don't afford women their bodily autonomy here. Hopefully that abortion decimalisation that Labour MPs are reported to be pushing goes somewhere.

Yeah, I hope the guidelines help. I really want to believe that a lot of attitudes we see about trans people are from a place of ignorance rather than malice, though I do fear that I'm being naïve. The admin statement will, frustratingly, take awhile, if at all, as it's been two weeks since I've heard from another admin, unless I make one unilaterally.

The Greens having a 2 point lead over Labour with 2024 Labour voters is really quite damning. Really goes to show that the strategy of alienating people that voted for you to win over people that never will isn't the most sensible.

The Times reports on a separate letter signed by a 100 different Labour MPs, so the rebellion could be bigger, though the article says ministers believe the rebellion will still be confined to dozens.

Also, it's 83 MPs that need to rebel to defeat the govt.

I also don't get why you're feeding the trolls like this, a simple report like 'Cell me Leni alt' would suffice.

The comments in question were removed last week and our internal position has been clarified, that there's no need to change our working definition of transphobia, albeit with some new considerations to allow people to talk about the transphobic actions of the British state. We want to make a statement, but the others seem busy with things outside of Lemmy.

I'm currently working on some guidelines for c/uk_politics to help potentially less informed users navigate the current situation without inadvertently being transphobic.
