  • Would you hire a dev with no comprehension of the task, who can not reliably communicate what their code does, can not be tasked with finding and fixing their own bugs, is incapable of having accountibility, can not be reliably coached, is often wrong and refuses to accept or admit it, can not comprehend PR feedback, and who requires significantly greater scrutiny of their work because it is by explicit design created to look correct?

Not me, but my boss would... wait a minute...

  • I'm curious to see if such a investigation could be possible in place like Texas or Alabama driven from state police.

  • Google Chat replaced hangouts and is not E2E.

Google Messages is the Android default SMS App, at least on Pixel phones. It is Android's best equivalent to "iMessage"

  • Considering giving to any church 501(c)(3) themselves are considered "charitable donations" when it comes to taxes, this rings a little hollow. If you consider a church as a charity itself, and those churches are soliciting donations every week in services, of course you're going to see higher charitable giving from areas with a lot of churches/religious. That said, my gripe is not with religious based charities, it's with churches. Salvation Army can continue to do what it does, religious affiliated childrens hospitals, etc. The amount of money that is spent on congregations is just a waste and it's a shame.

  • The news that has come out about how Tesla and Space-X have succeeded in spite of Musk, not because of him, has been eye opening. I think there's something to be said for having a front man to be the face of a company. Since Apple has been fine post Steve Jobs, so would Tesla and Space-X be fine post Elon. Frankly I'm kind of terrified that Space-X will get dragged down by this shit too, but it seems to have benefitted from being a side-project and not on Elon's front radar. If Elon gets bored of Twitter and starts doing Space-X stuff again. Thank goodness NASA kept redundancy in their rocket pipelines... At the time, it seemed like a waste, but now it looks very prudent.

  • Yeah, I feel like our luck for some of these trophy games might be out. Historically, even on years with no offense, we have performed adequately against Minnesota and Nebraska, and we capitalize on down years for Wisconsin. ISU is always a coin flip.

I won't be happy if this comes true, so maybe I'm putting it on paper to inure myself to what might be if the OL doesn't shape up and the new offensive pieces aren't enough.

  • I'm ready for them to move past this phase... "fun to watch" is only true when used in this case, as a turn of phrase. Actually watching this team, week after week last year was the definition of masochism.

  • Just imagine what could have been done in the last 300 years if every dollar that was donated to churches went to some other cause, or back into the pockets of the masses. There is an immense amount of wealth that is trapped in the collective real estate, bank accounts, etc owned by churches. I'm not even talking about megachurches or the mormon's giant stack of cash, just mom'n'pop little parishes that are everywhere across the US.

If ALL that money was still kicking around in the economy and in the pockets of people to spend on real things, building real businesses, etc...we'd be way better off.

Always makes me sad when I visit my in-laws who live in a particularly bible thumpy area and you go and there are spots there where churches outnumber normal businesses. It seems like it's just a huge drain on the local economy devoting that much money into propping up churches of various kinds...

  • It's...perfect. So beautiful.

  • Ah, that's easy! "Fire Brian Ferentz, Amiright?!" should get you on his good side.

In seriousness though, we have new tools on offense and an easy schedule this year, but we have the same offensive line and terrible OC. It's kind of a tossup to see how this team does. I actually am a little optimistic that the offense will be not abysmal based purely on skill position talent. I'm a little worried our defense will not carry the team as much without our MLB Jack Campbell next year, but our DC (Phil Parker) is fantastic and always seems to put forward an awesome group.

  • Classic. I dusted this off recently at work when I realized we had a significant overly project managed thing going on. F off PMs, I'm doing my work!

  • Has there been any posts on this outside of discord? Anything we can do? It's been noticable and I have an alt I can use when lemmy.world is down, but I didn't even realize this was happening.

  • Yeah, I tried one after many years...I had fond memories of the old PS2 versions.

PC port of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends and janky everything was a barrier just too high to overcome.

  • Sigh... You're free to go sir. Have a nice evening Mr sovereign user.

  • Agreed on all counts. Williams and rodman were both awesome, I thought. Bummer about Rapinoe, especially as her last WC. I think there is a lot of soul searching to do now to avoid this in the future.

  • My gripe was that rapinoe had control issues on all her service attempts thus far in the game. She was clearly off and frustrated and didn't think she should have been put out there. Didn't like any of the tactical calls made, but maybe that's just me.

  • We have an "upstairs basket" and "downstairs basket" that we put stuff in for the next time one of us goes up our down. They work great.
