Intimidation or domination. Same way they want undocumented people to "self-deport" or when the cop tells you to read him the info on your driver license even though he's perfectly capable of doing it himself.

Who the hell still carries around paper checks? I think I've written a total of 3 checks in the past 4-5 years, all for home service like plumbers.

With Trump it's hard to know with certainty what will happen, between flipflops and flat-out lying. I think the speed with which the various government agencies collapsed/capitulated before Musk & DOGE, and the capitulation of universities over Palestine protests and ICE, were not things anyone could predict. One could predict the rest of the Republicans would go along with all that stuff, but surprised the Democrats are not always fully unified against.

If you're still in 2024 you should be a lot happier than the 2025 you. In 2024 we were saying damnit that idiot got voted in again, 2025 we are saying fuck, US democracy is being dismantled, the Republicans are all for it, and some stupid Democrats are helping, wtf!

And then you have Asian Americans, who just want to be considered Americans. Probably every American born Asian has been asked at least once in their life "Where are you from?" and has their [location in the US] answer rejected with "No where are you really from?", as if it's impossible for an Asian to be American born - they must be foreign born and an immigrant. Asking about ethnic origin, ancestry, or even family are more semantically accurate terms that won't make the person questioned feel like they don't belong.

Seriously. I haven't seen a word from her since she lost. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Warren, Katie Porter, and of course AOC are posting and speaking publicly every day. Katie's running for governor of California and I will give her my vote when the time comes.

The DNC clearly has its head up somewhere dark and damp. Harris's campaign went flat as soon as they got involved.

Being the lesser of two evils was just not enough. The Democratic party has been failing to appeal to the working class and alienating groups of what are normally reliable Dem voters by neglecting them.

I was actually curious about this several years ago. In 2020 I started two investments, one has investment decisions made by a team of people, the other is not billed as AI but automated. I started them about the same time and with the same amount of money. 5 years later they are still nearly the same, the automated one slightly higher than the human one much of the time but not always.

He wants the rest of the country dragged down so far that Alabama is actually not the worst.

If you had uBlock origin already, you may have gotten a message through Chrome that it was no longer supported, so it's been disabled, and gives you the option to remove it. I noticed you don't have to remove it, and it can be re-enabled. However, I need someone smarter with adblockers than I to say if this is actually helpful and not hazardous.

I have not heard of any of Green's antics because Trump's antics are what's consuming the headlines. Seriously, what a load of bullshit. I'm increasingly disgusted with Democrats' lack of response.

He's an SLM - small language model

I'm in California where we have a grocery chain, Safeway. They've had a loyalty card for decades, which works great, gets you good deals, can be scanned by the checkout clerk or at self checkout. It also racks up points which can be used for discounts.

About 2 years ago I started seeing signs in the store offering even greater savings through the app. There will sometimes be 2 signs side by side for the loyalty card vs the app. The app is always a better deal.

So I downloaded the app and learned

• the app cannot scan your membership at self checkout, you have to be checked out by a clerk
• the app's membership number is different from your loyalty card number and the two cannot be merged.
• because of that your points can't be transferred to the app

It's the dumbest thing ever. Why not just offer the better savings to the loyalty card? Isn't that the whole point behind loyalty? I literally shop at Safeway less often now.

I was pretty astounded to learn a significant number of Muslims voted for the guy who clearly did not want Muslims entering the county last time around, because they were told Democrats were continuing to arm Israel and thus supported Israel. Which is somewhat true, but because everyone thinks in black and white terms, they decided to believe that "Trump wants to make peace" meant he was going to get everyone to stand down, when the reality is that Trump doesn't give a shit about Palestinians any more than he ever did, and peace to him means getting rid of the Muslims and turning Gaza into a resort for Israelis.

Yeah what could possibly go wrong?
