When did America start to decline?
  • Manufacturing has been in decline for a long time. NAFTA was one of the last nails in that coffin. But the tech boom of the 90s+ injected a few decades of growth and international status. I'll put my "point of no return" collapse date at Y2K

  • Suspected arson at Portland police training facility damages at least 15 patrol cars
  • Here's what I learned from 2020:

Highly visible protest in public space: huge police presence, violent counter protesters, unable to build pressure to force change. Human Cost: 2,000 people brutalized, gassed, and doxxed.

Direct action by dedicated, anonymous covert operatives: inhibits, delays, and frustrates the state and it's ability to repress dissent. Human Cost: A couple of people throw away some incriminating clothes, lay low, then move on with their lives.

  • America is a land of contrasts

Article 1: county refuses to reopen warming shelters despite snow and ice covering city and temperatures haven't been above 32°f in a week and warming shelters had record usage during the storm. Says they "can't open unless temp goes below 25 or there's an inch of snow coming down or it's below 32 and raining an inch".

Article 2: heartwarming emergency personnel save a hecking doggo from too much smow.

God damn America, that's in the Bible.
