  • 5th game all-time with zero punts. The most recent was 2021 KC-PHI, which is interesting in that they played again the next year in the SB....

and I believe the previous no-punt game would probably be the ~2018 SB between NE-PHI.

So 3 of the 5 games have all been in the last 6-7 seasons. Makes sense with the going for 4th down increases so much in recent years.

  • I was thinking about this earlier. if the Jets are in position to win out from that point and make the playoffs, that's technically a reason to rush back.

personally, I think he wants to do it to do it. it's the competitive side of him, or maybe just ego. but nobody else can say their ACL snapped during the regular season, and they made it back to play before the regular season is over. he wants to do it to show how amazing he is, simply put.

  • grounding calls have been more common this year, and often they're called in bizarre plays that go against what the spirit of the rule is.

that grounding call on Allen today was a great example of how fucked officiating is: Allen got horse collar tackled, and tried to throw it away. the refs called for IG, totally ignoring the horse collar that caused the "foul." then MFing Gene Steratore (sp? WC) comes on to explain why the IG call was legit (which is fine), "so although they unfortunately missed the horse collar, now you have an intentional grounding."

dude, just do the right thing! the IG occurred because the defense was breaking the rules and caused it to happen! change the damn rules to (I say this hesitantly) give the officials ability to use discernment to fix these obvious, egregious missed calls that affect the outcomes. when everybody sees the obvious foul/whatever, just fix it, use the damn tech at your disposal, (lose the ego), and FIX THAT SHIT.

  • I was going to make a comment earlier about that game. absolutely frustrating to watch, even as a neutral observer.

The TV crew even went back to a play before to point out the blatantly missed Jacksonville false start, after that terrible string of defensive penalties against Houston.

between the college and NFL this weekend, there's been a lot of terrible officiating. like, worse than the normal bad-bad.

  • never seen a hail Mary pick 6, incredible. Kirk said it well when he called it a play that summed up the Jets season. unbelievably funny and perfect.

and the same weekend as the iron bowl, which had the incredible kick 6, what, 9 or 10 years ago?

  • I fucking hate the goddamn 49rs so fucking much. that is all. the whole goddamn sf offense is running a train on colinsworth; idk how he fits them all in his mouth and still speaks so clearly.

  • so, Oregon had "the biggest increase in synthetic opioid deaths among states" 😱

    "...that have reported their numbers."

I feel like that last phrase is doing a lot of work. I'm not going to put in the work to figure out the numbers, but it's a weird place to end the article.

  • I saw some of this while browsing earlier last week and making orders.

specifically, I remember at least one store that had wild prices on something I was looking at, so I checked the feedback and saw a store with zero activity for over a year, then a few recent, suspicious bits of feedback. iirc, it was like zero orders/feedback for over a year, then a bunch of feedback from orders that were placed a day or two previously. impossible.

    change your passwords, y'all

  • the Vikings - Falcons game is going to be wild. the chaotic magic of the starting Heinicke, Josh Dobbs playing on his 5th team in the last 13 weeks of NFL play, and two crazy cursed franchises.

edit: chaotic madness successfully predicted. really edited this to add: if you haven't seen either of the Secret Base series covering the history of both of these teams, do yourself a favor and check them out. can't recommend them enough, even if you don't like sports.

    TB-HOU: hold our beer.
