I think they meant that the point of playing isn‘t to win a price at the end but to have experienced the scenario. So even if you die you „win“ an interesting story.

Not sure what exactly seems nonsensical to you but it’s a well known concept that is also explained thoroughly in the books. You might want to read up on von Neumann probes.

I’m mostly riding standing up, not sitting. Best investments were quality large flat pedals and a nice pair of shoes to go along with them (bonus points for the soles actually being made for spiked pedals so they won’t shred too quickly).
