  • Yeah, I know there are white Muslims. I've seen lots of blue-eyed blond-haired Muslim Bosnians. I'm just wondering if there's a limit to what Americans would consider white.

Like I know a Palestinian guy with fair hair and blue eyes, but I've never asked him if he considers himself white.

  • Is Hasan white? I thought the name alone would preclude him from whiteness.

  • Theyre trying to do do an Amerikkka.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z_(military_symbol)

Opponents of the war have pejoratively called the Z symbol a zwastika.

The 2022 Moscow rally [...] was officially called in Russia "For a world without Nazism" (Russian: «Zа мир без нацизма»), with Latin Z replacing Russian З.

In Moldova, unknown vandals painted the symbols "Z" and "V" over crosses at the World War II Heroes' Cemetery of Chișinău, on graves of soldiers of the Axis-aligned Romania

Forget all the Ukrainian nazi iconography, the Ruzzians are the real Nazis!

  • Honestly it seems like an arbitrary line, considering that Herbert's story continues for a few more books after that. The first two books could also be considered a good standalone (duology?), since they cover the span of Paul's story.

Really, the only wrong answer is the first book alone. I think most people read only the first book and get the wrong idea.

  • people who are basically “racially trans,” meaning they change from one race/ethnicity to another

  • Yeah, the antisemitic comparisons I've seen have typically been in the "vermin" category. Implying that Jews need to exterminated. I guess dogs wouldn't fit the rhetoric well because people are generally sympathetic to dogs...

I know the dog comparison is used pejoratively in a couple of other languages, but the connection there seems to be to dogs barking - basically calling someone a nuisance.

  • Same, I've always assumed (and still do) that this is essentially what it means. The labor aristocracy and vassal states of the US are rewarded for their loyalty.

  • Isn't brave super sus as well?

  • Yeah it would explain a lot. I wish someone had told me "I think you might have ADHD" when I was younger. I was a grown ass man going around thinking "I am completely neuroptypical", ignoring all the signs being glaringly obvious, and making fun of "spergs", who I definitely totally didn't understand (most of my friends at any given time).

Ironically it was a coworker who had been diagnosed in his 30s and had since experienced his life drastically improving, who approached me. He told me I should get tested, but I was extremely skeptical. He then proceeded to nail me to the fucking wall by listing all the strange behaviors he'd observed, including shit I was shit doing while he was talking to me

In hindsight, it was extremely obvious. But it's so easy to chalk up to personal quirks and the default assumption is neuroptypical. Especially if you're over a certain age or part of an underserved group who didn't have access to mental health services.

  • As a white person

In all seriousness, how do I tell if I'm white? I keep thinking about another user's example of Assad. He appears white-passing, but his name, religion and nationality would each be enough for him to be considered non-white in the US.

And is a case like that one where it actually matters to what extent the person identifies with whiteness?

  • Good idea. I've heard that nuking cities is a very effective way of forcing a stubborn enemy nation to surrender.

It's also preferable to a prolonged invasion and conventional bombing campaign, simply in terms of number of casualties. The number of people killed by the two nuclear bombings it would take to force Ukraine to surrender would be significantly smaller than the number of casualties incurred by a drawn out conventional invasion.

Seems like the only moral course of action for Putin to take.

  • Never heard of real debris, why is it better?

Edit: looks like it's a seed box?

  • Not necessarily subscription, it looks like the $30 osmand+ app supports it. Also, you can just steal it. :D

  • Don't forget they also have to say the magic words: "I have been held accountable."

  • mystical nonsense influenced mainstream economic theory, swapping out “god” for “the market.”

Protestantism, and specifically Calvinism, were a mistake.

  • I don't think the situation described in the study counts. It's not really community support when it's coming from strangers. I'd assume the ideal would be friends, family, and members of your church praying for you.

Some randos I don't know saying they'll pray for me might just make me worry. What if they pray to the wrong god and just make it worst?

  • Why not all of the above, and a dedicated idiot to boot?
