  • The rest of us have been here for over a year and the decision to de-mod this community is not a new idea. We are not removing the community at this time, we just feel it has not been effectively moderated to fit in with Lemm.ee’s rules.

But that seems counter to what was said by a lemm.ee admin just three months ago. They seemed fine with the mods then. In fact, they said, "We have in the past had to shut down a few conservative-type communities over such things. Having said that, I am not aware of the current moderators of that community allowing, much less featuring, any kind of bigotry (in fact, a quick look over the mod log shows them actively removing bigotry, usually posted by users from outside lemm.ee)."

And here is a screenshot of the whole comment: https://lemmy.wtf/post/13103372/11195134

  • K, and you may not wanna make it until we find out if we can even get the community. I haven't heard back from the mods about that, and an admin is kinda saying that the idea to unmod the community has been floated around amongst them for a while.

  • So will you keep it unmodded? Because that seems like a worse idea. Your community, your rules, but I'm just wondering about the thoughts behind leaving a "controversial" community unmodded.

And the person who posted the Nazi salute pic is not the only person to be banned on Lemm.ee lately.

So are you telling me that lemm.ee has NOT changed it's attitudes towards banning and what it allows on here in the last few months?

I'm not implying you are wrong, I would like qualification. Because I have seen other peopel say the same thing to. There seems to be a much lower tolerance lately.

But to you knowledge, no meetings, no talks, or anything of the sort about reigning people in a bit more? Nothing about outside instances pressuring you?

  • You can make a community private by setting up your own server and making it invite only. That’s the joy of the fediverse.

Yeah, but there's not way to set up a private community on a different server. Not every knows how to, or has the money to, make their own instance.

  • Yeah, I think the new account would be better, because for many people, if they look at your current account, they may see a bias and disregard what you have to say--even if you are right.

But again, only for the community. I have no problem with your main profile being as is. I don't agree with it, but I do support your right to say it.

  • So if you can't make a community private on Lemmy, why suggest it? And I'm already on Reddit.

  • Leaves a literal Nazi celebration post up for days

I didn't see it. So describe it to me.

  • I didn't suggest that. I said that I think Trump is a capitalist, not a Nazi.

  • Also, your profile is this. Are you sure you are gonna be able to remain neutral in a conservative community? Because if all this is in bad faith, then let's not waste our time. I was being honest in my conversation with you.

  • Nazis are capitalists.

Ok, but are all capitalists, Nazis?

  • Correct. Dinosaurs don't currently exist. And there is no hollow earth.

  • Ok, let's do it. I'll message the mods and ask if we can have this one. And let you know it goes.

  • Ha, fair point.

But the admins are the ones who removed the mods. They would also be the ones to do the banning.

And I am not used to being banned. I am used to seeing people banned for silly things though. There is a whole community about crazy bannings and it's a great read.

  • Cool. So again, are you saying over half of America supports Nazis and Fascists? So are you saying that America is a majority Nazi country?

    Yes or no?

  • I don't think Trump is a Nazi. He's a capitalist. Which Lemmy equates with Nazism. And I disagree.

  • I hope I don't get banned. but I keep saying it because the attitude on Lemmy lately has been very ban-heavy to conservative views.

Trust me, I'm more than happy to be wrong.

But I also get called a "troll" on a daily basis, even tho I have not said anything trolling. So meh, it's Lemmy, hard to tell what will happen.

If I do get banned, I'll just start another username though. I scrub my usernames every few months anyway, so no biggie.
