  • That's a gamble though.

If itcwas Trump on his own - yes. All we'd have to do is sit back and watch him fuck up, because he's not only an idiot, but an idiot with the emotional maturity of a toddler, so he just careens from one tantrum to the next.

But this time around, he has a number of smart and devious people whispering in his ear, and while he's not one for taking advice, he can be manipulated by someone who understands how to play him.

It seems though that they're having a hard time stopping him from being an idiot toddler, so there's some hope. But it's still a gamble.

  • A raving lunatic clearly abusing the power of his office and violating federal law, the constitution and his oath of office.

And where the fuck is the opposition?

At this point there can be no doubt that the United States is terminally ill.

  • As I point out over and over, it's all actually clear evidence of the simple fact that he's profoundly mentally ill.

By any objective standard, the man is a raving lunatic, and deeply emotionally disturbed. He not only shouldn't be president - he shouldn't even be allowed out on his own. He needs extensive mental health care, or barring that, he needs to be kept away from any opportunity to do harm, because he self-evidently is incapable of moderating his own behavior into anything even vaguely approaching healthy.

And the most insane and incomprehensible part of this timeline, to me, is that there are so many people who apparently can't see that, when it's so bludgeoningly obvious, or who can see it but pretend that they don't.

If I didn't know better, I'd assume that somebody went out and found a smelly old derelict locked in an argument with God in a dirty alley somewhere, gave him a shave, a suit and a layer of bronzer, and made him president.

  • The timing here is what makes this move particularly baffling...

It's only baffling if you cling to the ever-more-laughable belief that the Democrats are any sort of meaningful opposition.

If you instead simply shift to the ever-more-supported belief that they are in fact essentially oligarchic co-conspirators, then the timing makes perfect sense.

  • Trump isn't into much of anything other than feeding his ego, his greed and his lust. That's another aspect of his fundamental childishness - his desires and motivations are very simple and sybaritic.

However, he's surrounded by people who are stroking hisxegovand whispering in his ear and trying to get him to focus his wandering attention on things they want, and some of them certainly are very much into eugenics. That is in fact an obvious and deliberate implication of replacement theory and pro-natalism - people like Musk see reproduction as a contest between races, and one that they're afraid they're going to lose and are determined to win, by whatever means might serve.

  • I suspect more strongly all the time that not just a likely consequence but an explicit goal of the coming autocracy is to kill a large number of people.

It's essentially passive eugenics. The idea is to make life as difficult as possible for everyone but the wealthiest few, and again, not just as a consequence of shallow self-interest but deliberately, so that as many people as possible die, and with the idea that the deaths will be most concentrated among the most disadvantaged.

Part of the idea then behind MAGA's obsession with identity politics is to try to arrange things so that groups they don't like are overrepresented among the disadvantaged who will die.

That's also a lot of the reason then behind Musk's creepy pro-natalism - they're trying to get a head start on breeding white fascist replacements for all of the undesirables they intend to kill.

  • Of course not.

Khalil isn't even of any real note to the autocrats who are taking over the government. He's ultimately just a test case, to set the precedents for the likely millions of people who are going to end up being imprisoned and even killed for the "crime" of holding opinions different from the officially sanctioned ones.

  • I share your fascination.

I maintain that if Microsoft hadn't bought out Digital Anvil, Star Citizen wouldn't even exist because Roberts would still be working on Freelancer.

And the thing is that Freelancer is still one of my all-time favorite games. Even with its turn-of-the-century low poly models, it still stands up even today.

He really does have a tremendous vision for truly epic games. He just doesn't know when to stop...

  • Asked to explain the system by which Trump's officials determine that the individuals are, as charged, part of the Tren de Aragua gang, a spokesman responded, "Wull lookit "em! They's furriners, jus' like them Tren de whatsits, an' ever'one knows they's all crimnuls!"

  • Opposing genocide isn't an extremist position.

Defending genocide is in fact the extremist position. It's also a loathsome, vile and wholly evil position, fit only for psychopaths and disgusting pieces of shit.

    Like, apparently, Michael Rapaport.
