  • Saw a job posting I actually want which I have the qualifications for, time for a couple of weeks of excited joy before inevitable disappointment

  • Genuinely incomprehensible that someone can sit and brag about not following "Geneva Conventions or any other nonsense LOAC" and not understand you're an evil ghoul.

Like what needs to happen to your brain for that to be possible?

  • At least Eurasianism was one of his main ideas, yeah. Lots of weird, esoteric fascist stuff.

  • Thought this guy got hit by a car bomb or something a few years back. Sad to see he's still around.

Edit: Nevermind, that was his daughter, I misremembered. My day is now a bit worse being reminded he is actually still alive.

  • Post-poned some chores during easter, and today I have enough energy to feel like I should catch up, but not quite enough energy to get myself to do them

  • Had a nightmare that my boobs just fell off wtf

  • How is Shadowheart in the lead? Like she's not bad or anything, but if she's your favourite you probably think salt is spicy.

  • Yeah, the libs and neocons really hate you for your brave stance against anti-americanism and degrowth dude

  • I think that's the way its supposed to feel, so that's good

It's very possible i'm just viewing it unfavourably, or experienced the changes in tone as bigger than they actually were, just because it wasn't what I personally wanted from the show

  • I think some book fans had dreamed for so long of an adaptation that it was never going to be good enough, but I think what ruined it for me was that it doesn't seem to want to tell the kind of story that the books were telling.

I remember the first book as this pretty simple coming of age, fantasy adventure, but the vibe I got while watching it was that the writers really wanted it to be more like GoT. And that just felt like such a cynical decision to me, like the point was to sell more by making it more like the insanely popular thing that just ended a couple years ago.

(My relationship to the books is a kinda complicated. I was hooked as a teen, but feel a lot more ambivalent after a re-read because of the constant sexist garbage I spotted when I was more mature. Like, I'm kinda pissed that teen me was tricked into thinking the weird gender essentialism was a normal, healthy way for men and women to think about each other and themselves, and every other female character is a sexist stereotype. But the nostalgia is unfortunately pretty strong so idk, I never soured completely on it like I did with Harry Potter for instance, so it must have had some redeeming qualities.)

  • I don't see it happening.

Norway does not care about the welfare of trans people, and while several smaller parties are trying to gain support by advocating a more confrontational line against Trump, the three major ones are still very hesitant to upset the US.

  • I say communist unless I'm at work or something. I used to say socialist, but everyone just thinks that means capitalism with welfare characteristics here, and I can't deal with people thinking I'm a lib.

  • Wait 10 years and you will realise you were really young today

  • I'm writing every day now and it's helping my mental wellbeing so much.

Got addicted to a video game for a few days earlier this week (why can I not like things normally instead of feeling like I have to spend 12 hours a day on it) and lost the habit which made me feel terrible, but now I'm back into it.

  • Lost Highway, I had seen other David Lynch movies before so I expected it to maybe be creepy, but not really scary, but this one really got to me

  • A friend took me to see a movie and she promised me it wasn't that scary, but the first thirty minutes or whatever was like the scariest thing I've ever seen (after that it was okay). Just sat and stared into my lap in the cinema and now I won't be able to sleep tonight

    Feel exhausted after watching it

  • And experience shows that Trump gets what he wants while liberals and Europeans fold like paper

This is just not true at all though. Biden and Obama were both much better at getting Europe to do what they wanted than Trump during his first term. When has Trump being some geo-political mastermind able to bully other countries into submission been anything but a conservative fantasy? He is not even going to get Canada to play ball, let alone all of Europe.

To say that they don't have the ability to resist just giving away their industries is bizzare. You would have to give them genuinely zero other options to survive first, and while Europe is stagnant like most first-world economies, it's still an obscenely wealthy and un-proportionally influential region of the world. It's facing slow economic decline, but it's not in any danger of collapsing anytime soon. To say otherwise just feels like wishful thinking.

Europe is going to decline, that's basically certain, and their relationship with the US souring is going to be a part of that. But it will be slow, as more and more thirld-word countries rise out of poverty and are able to push Europe out of its unique position on the global stage. It's not going to be because they give away all their shit to the US because they couldn't resist Trump's secret genius.
