  • "why do I need to be included" sounds a bit harsh and could be met with "because I said so". instead maybe try something along the lines of "how will this meeting benefit my work?" or "how might I contribute?"

  • during the API purge the did a mass undeletion of everything, I think. stuff I wrote and deleted years ago was unearthed. People were deleting things en masse and reddit threw a fit. they went beyond undeleting recent things and just restored literally everything, it seems

  • this is an interesting analogy that i haven't heard before. it doesn't seem like a fully fleshed out analogy though. it jumps between concepts without making the links apparent.

would anyone like to expand upon this analogy for us? how do we get from ruling everything, to killing, to borders, to law, to economics?

  • What if you had a player who wanted to secretly backstab and subvert the party, in character? They'd play as if they were part of the team, but in between sessions the player would communicate with the DM and decide ways to betray the party, with in-game consequences. It was the worst campaign I've ever been in. I still wonder if it was bad DMing or I'm just sour.

  • "ADMIT IT!!" man you are so fixated on finger pointing, that's why we can't talk to you. as if discussion is a one way street.

but I wanted to at least clarify that intending to get upset doesn't equate to bad intentions. it just doesn't make for good discussion.

  • my understanding is that it's at the point of erasure without outright murder at this time. being sent to concentration camps, forced labor, denied right to their culture, etc. the stuff that tends to come before mass killings, and the ultimate purpose of mass killings, is erasure of a group identity.

maybe it's not a genocide like in Bosnia but it's certainly problematic. the actions seem to be not far off from the ways indigenous americans have been erased, which is another place where the word "genocide" has been debated

  • okay well conflating the two is a pretty arbitrary thing to do, and not really something you would want to assume everyone else does. you seem surprised that people reacted negatively to your comment... and you attribute that to us not being "anti imperialist" enough... when really you're just speaking a different language. maybe getting upset about it was your original intention?

  • I tried going down this line of thinking too, but any assumption you make is predicated on the belief that they would use means that we are familiar with. Just because we do not know of a way to do such and such does not mean it does not exist. This post is referring to a fundamental epistemic problem.

  • oh, yeah. it's a mechanical issue with mine. this thing started clicking while plugged in, so i stopped using it. that was around 10 yrs ago. i think i stopped using it when it was still functional but it's been so long.
