  • I use mine extensively as a health monitor/tracker. I now have 3 years worth of heart rate data and can see early warnings of potential issues if it changes. Also it tracks my daily activity for step counts and also my sleep habits. It is also really good for getting off my phone since I can easily see notifications and if they aren't important I can just look at them later instead of always having to check my phone. Also it tells the time so thats nice too.

  • This is so unnecessary and I want it so badly now that I know it exists.

  • By doing absolutely bare minimum for the actual job and spending the rest of the time on my own interests and hobies in the workshop that might og might not benefit the projects. I'm the only one capable of the highly specialized and technical challenges in our project so they can't and won't fire me, but I'm probably leaving soon anyway because I'm not paid enough to do anything more than bare minimum at the moment. Also drugs help. Helps a lot to not get anxiety about it.

  • Is it filler or is it just the truth?

I truly see it as my biggest strength that my ADHD can make me do a weeks worth of tasks in a single day when needed, or the fact that i can hear the 3D printer crashing from acros the room, or catch the tiniest imperceptible changes to the sound and rhythm of a machine I'm working on because my focus is on everything all at once. It can take my colleagues days to figure something out that I catch immediately.

  • Yes it doesn't really work for cooking or tasks where you need to be precise, but then snoozing wouldn't work anyway since 10 min would be too long for most occasions. However you can use your assistant on your phone to set precise alarms. Just say "Hey Google/Siri set an alarm for 12 minuts for the pizza" and it should set an alarm instead of a timer.

I just have a few generic alarms on my phone i keep changing for whenever i need them. They dont repeat weekly on Android automatically so they are like single use. I also do also have weekly repeating timers for remembering stuff like trash bins or groceries delivery.

  • Use alarms and snooze them instead giving you 10 min until it rimgs again. Repeat until task is done

  • I've learned the hard way (multiple times) that if beverage goes into freezer a timer of one hour MUST be set on my phone or smart speaker, because I gaslighted myself into believing it's illegal to put drinks in the freezer and if someone finds out I'll be arrested.

  • Well that's peak ADHD for you right there. New thing=dopamin. No dopamine any more = abandoned projektets. My best advice is to pick something that you can keep itterating on infinitely and keep interesting. For instance i like making smoothies and its something you can vary for ever and never run out of recipes to try. Basically food is a good hobby because there's so much to learn from the entire world

For gaming something like Minecraft can be fun because infinitely projects, but maybe harder to stay motivated.

3d printing is also good because there's something new constantly.

  • Congratulations on your new brain chemistry. Its such an amazing feeling, and i hope you'll find out a lot of new things about yourself. For me I feel like I got my sense of self back like I remember myself from 20 years ago. For far too long I feel like I've been on autopilot, trapped in a constant fight for my own attention that has been stolen from me. I've been medicated for a year now in my late 20's and I feel so happy.

But remember this, when it inevitably becomes the new norm and you have a difficult day. You still have ADHD. The meds will never remove that. But you now have better tools to fight back what is rightfully yours, namely your attention. Remember to take a break sometimes and just ride the ADHD for a day or two when the meds are not working as they should for whatever reason. It'll bounce back and you will find out you are so much stronger that you used to be over all.

    Be kind to yourself.

  • Totally fair points. But if it is supposed to be for poor areas patenting the system seems like a counter productive choice. Yes chains are cheap but so would a new manufacturing process for belt drives be. The gears for belt drive can be cast from composite plastics making them relatively cheap. Old fasion belt splicing kits exist as well and could be implemented if you really wanted to avoid the split frame or they could develop a simple split frame conversion kit where you can cut out a section and clamp it back together with a bracket. It doesn't have to as complicated as one might think. Most of the conversion kits today are expensive because they also needs to look good and fancy, but for rural areas funktion is king and it could be made much simpler with two bracket and 6 bolts clamping the frame together. I just belive that belt has a lot more potential because it is really really durable and good for harsh environments with no lubricant needed.

  • A bit up front yes, but you can drive over 15.000 - 30.000km on a belt set with very little to no maintenance. And the price for belt drive is still coming down and is really price competitive already. I have belt drive on my bike and have done nothing to it at all for 3000 km and it still runs smoothly.

  • Use a belt drive instead. They are super strong and dont get elongated over time. Otherwise use a shaft driven axle with oil submerged gears. That shit never breaks

Edit: i don't understand why people down vote? A well maintained bike chain can only run between 3000-8000 km at best and that's under good conditions. A belt drive can easily run 20.000 km and some stories of over 40.000 km and can run In mud and snow without trouble. It does not need any lubricant and only a little water to clean it now and then.

For shaft systems i see that they are less developed for bicykles. On motorbikes it's more common and it never breaks.

  • Bme280 is actually just as cheap if not cheaper than the dht sensors. But its a fair point trying to keep the cost down. I definitely like that philosophy, but if the quality suffers too much it's just not worth the trouble. Keep up the good work. 😎

  • Those dht11 sensors are garbage tho. Best case they are wildly off on their humidity sensor. Worst case they keep breaking and shows nonsense readings. I would recommend bme280 sensor instead. If you read about them you might see people complain that they are reading too high temperatures, but in my experience its because they are misconfigured. Default settings have a very high sampling rate of multiple samples per second that heats up the sensor a tiny bit giving you the offset. Lowering the sampling rate or turn the sensor off completely in between readings gives really precise measurements on both temperatures and humidity.

  • No such thing as free lunch. There's always a catch.

  • It's just the truth 😂 and they are paying me for it 😎

  • Awesome idea. There is actually one of those time timers at work that noone uses. I'll steal that for my WFH days. I used to use it at work myself before I was medicated and it helped me a lot but I forgot about it completely because while at work I don't really need it anymore now I have my meds.
