  • I was brainstorming a concept EP where Bon Iver and

traded places. You know, they both went to the woods to process their trauma, but while one got into music, the other got into crafts.

Then I remember how a decade ago someone did a bunch of Alex Jones quotes in the style of a Bon Iver or Sufjan Stevens. They basically beat me to it, unless I would still consider fleshing out that EP and throwing it in as a cover.

  • I'm more of an Ice Ages guy myself, but I respect the Dino-heads out there.

  • There's a bar in my town that has some of the best potato wedges I've ever tasted. That's the last thing they're actually known for, but those fries are way better than anyone would expect.

  • I thought this was about the Men on Black until I read your question. I think he biffed it hard, but he died a legend at least.

  • I've been thinking about this lately. Some four years ago or so Niko was talking about doing a redux of this.

  • Been working too much and my plans keep falling apart, but I did join in on a small protest on Memorial Day. I seriously missed out on two different social engagements this week because I was working 12s. I needed that social fix. :/

  • Also, farming in the desert? This isn't the fertile crescent, it's a place like Arizona where even crops require a ridiculous water-cost. Fuck.

  • I'm sort of used to the horror of these factory farms, more in the sense of how senselessly evil capitalism is. Like, you cure capitalism and the other stuff can be more easily righted.

But I keep thinking about how what used to be confined to death factories and poor peoples' water supplies is radially spreading out from there and just killing every living thing in the background, whether native birds populations, penguins, or mammals. And more and more people just out and about in general.

  • Probably through the trauma-bonding, I became good friends with many of my coworkers and we'd occasionally hang out, sans boss.

So it wound up hurting on a surprisingly emotional level when a round or two of burnout chased off so many work-friends I'd known for years. We've all been so busy at our respective jobs now, it kinda sucks.

  • Imagine having access to all those drugs and instead of using them to be more efficient, you blow that headspace on playing Diablo.

Wait, he might be onto something with that one. Do less work, Musk.

  • Soundcloud can still be good for this, but you need to dig or search by playlists. Youtube can be fun, if you want someone's backporch DJ sets or old filk cassettes.

I'm lucky to have a local community-funded radio station. They'll of course play the hits depending on who's DJ and the like, but if you pop the WMSE app on your phone you can have some fun.

What have you been personally craving. I'm sure me or others could point you to some genres or obscure artists. The other day I was jamming to everything from Highlife to Folkpunk.

  • They do have mutes, but the recent pickup I installed unfortunately means the mute will no longer fit. Clearly I should save up for another banjo.

  • Another 12+ hour shift done. My banjo playing schedule has suffered from this. Don't wanna wake neighbors up, so I'm watching streamers on Rednote play Horror games I've never heard of.

Been missing a lot of activism opportunities lately as well, from either long hours or recovering from them. I may use some of this copious OT to donate to a Palestine or Congo organization. I can be like a baby Engels and fund based people, since I'm being worked too hard to be based.

  • No. That sounds hilarious, though.

  • Huh, from now on I think when someone says that about China, Iran, etc I'm going to have to ask them how that's any different from claiming it's the Jews.

  • So this is just gonna be normal I guess.

  • Damn, a cop doing something good? Must've been opposite day.
