  • That’s interesting. I wonder how much religion plays into it. My marriage is monogamous but we are both open to each other about attractions outside the marriage. It is OK to be turned on by someone else or some other situation, and we can use that together. It also helps that we both don’t generally like other people; we have a close knit group of friends but most folks we meet outside that are obnoxious and gross.

  • I’ve basically learned that drinking sucks. A long time ago I would drink 1 beer a day, 2-3 on weekends. A few years later I cut it down to 1 a day. A few years after that I cut to 3 a week. This year I do 1 occasionally. When I have that 1 I sleep like crap, my stress score is higher, I gain weight and feel bloated, and it’s just not worth the buzz. I am considering a full quit, or cut back to 4 a year. I have quite the liquor cabinet, lots of good stuff, but basically stopped drinking it.

  • I think it is more complicated than that. As I understand it, it is the ratio of 6 to 3 that can have inflammatory effects. Most people don’t get much 3 and get lots of 6 so that can be a problem. Both are essential but we need the right balance.

Also, it is pretty well understood that EVOO shouldn’t be used in high heat applications, anything over 375 where it smokes. You can and should cook with it but use something else for searing.

Edit: here’s some published research on ratio since people are downvoting me.
