  • No, because you've posted SEVENTEEN TIMES today simping for Linus. You keep repeating "wait for both sides" even though Linus already responded directly to the GN piece and his response was GARBAGE, which is the main reason a lot of people are unsubscribing. Madison's problem isn't the only issue, it's just another thing we're throwing onto the pile.

If this was a male employee you wouldn't be arguing this hard with the accusations.

  • MOST flagship Android phones 10 years ago were small and had removable batteries. The Galaxy S5 was the last flagship from Samsung to do it, to name one.

  • Lol that is not correct, plenty of people are very professional about social media. But the shitty ones make the news so they're the ones we hear about.

  • Lol this fanboy

  • Practical for some scenarios, but impractical in others. A headphone jack also offers better sound quality overall and a less flaky connection, with no audio cutouts. It's not just latency, it's a superior and more reliable way to transmit high quality audio. And there's no battery to worry about charging. And a standard set of wired headphones can last for DECADES while a Bluetooth headset will start to die in about five years or less because the battery is non-replaceable lithium-ion. And there's no concern about whether your wired headphones are optimized for Android or iPhone, it's a standardized connector with an identical experience on both. And there's no issue with wireless interference on the 2.4GHz band that Bluetooth operates on.

I can come up with more if you want.

  • I mean, you could do all sorts of wild shit but at a certain point it's impractical for most people. You think Google has actually put effort into this so far? You haven't seen effort yet, they're just beta testing.

  • It would be pretty trivial for them to just block playback completely for any agent that's blocking their ad scripts. Or make their ad videos indistinguishable from the actually video you want.

The question isn't CAN they enforce this, it's WILL they enforce this? Thus far we've been succeeding at this cat-and-mouse game simply because the cat is too fat and lazy to chase us. But this cat is looking more hungry and motivated every day....we'll see.

  • Your logic is flawed. Phones have only gotten BIGGER as removable batteries have been phased out. Nearly every phone today is huge, and hardly any have removable batteries.

The Galaxy S series had removable batteries until the S6 dropped the feature. And the S5 was IP67 rated. Small, waterproof phones with big, removable batteries are entirely possible. You're just falling for the propaganda.

  • What's the practical alternative to headphone jacks? Bluetooth is crap and carrying around extra dongles is annoying.

  • How old are you? Small phones with replacement batteries have always existed. Batteries being removable has nothing to do with size, that's industry propaganda.

If anything, phones have gotten BIGGER as batteries became non-removable. But that's just because people buy big phones more.

  • Making YouTube available solely in their app sounds entirely possible and not unlikely here. They already sorta do that with age-restricted videos and videos that have voluntarily disabled embedding.

  • Yeah, I'm glad I already have a cheap annual subscription to Curiosity Stream + Nebula. I'll have to look for some other decent video platforms if they're going to start being dicks about YouTube.

  • If you already have an HDMI cable and it works, then use it. There is zero reason to switch to DP, unless you find yourself wanting one of the features that is exclusive to DP (like daisy chaining monitors or Gsync). Otherwise, buying a DP cable would be nothing more than a waste of your money.

  • HomeAssistant will easily run on a Pi, it's Nextcloud that needs more horsepower.

  • Not sure what you're on about, Google is absolutely capable of detecting if you're using Ublock Origin, Piped, ReVanced, whatever. The question isn't if they CAN break those things, it's just if they WILL.

And if they're beta testing this system right now, I'd say it's just a matter of time.

  • Hell is almost certainly full of poorly functioning chatbots.

  • Heaven sounds like a shitty place if it's filled with all those insufferable Christians.

  • Just depends on what resolution and quality you decide to download. If you stick with 1080p H265, most movies are bout 1.5GB. If you want something better like 4K HDR, you'll be looking at like 20-30GB per movie I think. I would advise the former, it's easier on your hard drive and your home internet.

  • "perfectly preserved"

Looks like a dusty old skeleton to me, but I understand that it's a significant finding.

  • A handful of Lemmy users on the "technology" community does not equal "most people". That's just bad journalism lol
