The Fifth Element.
Thanks so much! You're truly awesome.
As it stands, there doesn't seem to be an option to make the button for comments open the comments section on posts. It goes directly to leaving a comment.
There's a bunch of options that you can change that button (button 1, etc) in the settings to, including removing it altogether. I click the comment button every time, then I remember that I have to click the body of the post to see comments (resulting in backing out and extra clicks). I can't seem to get my muscle memory right on that - probably partially because I bounce back to Jerboa, where you do click the comment button to go to the comments.
As for visually, I like the button icon and comment count, so I think that's perfect - I would just love for there to be a setting to change the action from leaving a comment to go to comments section. Maybe "view comments" and "leave comment" in the settings to differentiate.
Pretty please? β€οΈ
Plex or Jellyfin might be what you're after.
I've read somewhere along the way that this is a Lemmy issue, not an app issue. I believe it's being addressed by the devs.

My PC specs have plateaued as of late, but we're both in this picture. π
Downloads one instance's communities (and some other settings) to a JSON, then you can upload from that JSON to a new instance. I'm not sure there's anything that quite caters to what you're looking for yet.
LASIM works great. Used it to migrate my main account to an alt for when my main instance inevitably goes down.
I loved Textra. It's not their fault, but I really love RCS support, and right now that's basically Google Messages and a handful of preinstalled carrier messenger apps (if I'm not mistaken). I loved adding a 3 second delay on sending texts - I always seem to see typos as/after I hit send. π
Gotcha. My mistake. It looks like mine went through without a hitch with the June 1 update.
What I'm seeing online is to look up Play Services in the Play Store and see if there's an update and then try again. The other thing involves clearing the cache for Play Services and restart the phone, then retry - but apparently that means you could lose stuff like transit cards, COVID card, and payment info saved in Google Pay, so that's definitely not ideal.
I don't disagree. It's just my home instance and I know it allows it, so I didn't want to send OP somewhere random and have them not allow it either.
I'm on a Pixel 6, and my last security update seems to be July 5. There's actually another new security update that's applying now. I'll report back if it doesn't go. Never had one fail though. π«€
What actually happened here? Aside from the shifter deciding it wanted to take a nap.
Lemmy.ml removed the ability to create communities to (I believe) encourage using other instances. You can create a community on other instances still - like lemmy.world, for example.
You ever smell the droplets in the air after someone else sneezes? You now know what theirs smell like.
That was quick! Logged in and went through a few skips. Not seeing anything worth noting, which is a good thing. I appreciate that it also pulls from smaller instances I've never even heard of.
If you're on the website, go to your post, click the 3 vertical dots so that it expands, and hit the trash can icon.
I honestly don't know how it should be. I'll leave that up to you. I wasn't logged in when I was going through communities. So that might be a way to filter them out easily - if you can pull a list of blocked instances from users' home instances once they log in.
Pretty good. It's kind of like Stumbleupon for Lemmy communities. The only "issue" I saw is it includes the forbidden no-no instances that are defederated by a lot of the bigger instances for being... troublesome.
Everyone's said qBittorrent, and I agree. I found myself using an old build of uTorrent for a very long time (2.2.1, I believe). I finally realized it was probably a risk being so far behind. qBittorrent feels like old uTorrent, before it got extra bloated and scummier. It also adds a lot of features. Truly, qBittorrent is the answer you're looking for coming from uTorrent.
A "B-movie-on-purpose" film, parodying the sci-fi movies of the '50s. It's surprisingly good.

As an Xbox owner since the OG in the early 2000s, I'd almost suggest against an Xbox One / Series controller too. I know the Xbox One is fairly old now, but it's the first one I had to get a new controller for due to stick drift. Original controller that came with it has the right stick set to full sky mode, completely unusable. The replacement has right stick drift as well, only slightly to the left at the moment. Manageable, but annoying. I would almost suggest a wired 360 controller (if you can find one these days). I'm an adult gamer, only user, and not hard on controllers, but maybe I've just had bad luck with my controllers.
As the title says, I've set Frontpage as default. Now, whenever I load into the app, this is what my feed does. Note the hintInstance=null stuff at the top as well. If I click Frontpage from the left panel, it'll refresh normally and populate. I've tried setting any other as default, and the result is the same. Any ideas? Or is this something that's already being looked at?

Short and sweet EP from Permanence out of Venezuela. Not even 8 minutes long - I hope to hear more from the band in the near future.

Solid melodic tech death that came out of nowhere when it dropped earlier this year. It blew me away on the first listen. One of my favorite albums this year.

I feel like this one hasn't really been on people's radar, but it's in my top 3 right now in the genre for the year.

Spire Of Lazarus has a lot of deathcore elements in their sound, but they blend it so well with the more technical side of things.

Mythica is a five-part fantasy film series that was made by Arrowstorm and funded through crowdfunding (Kickstarter). The Iron Crown is the fourth film in the series and, in my opinion, the high point. It has brief appearances by Kevin Sorbo throughout the series (back when that might have been more of a positive point), as well as a few other recognizable faces (Kristian Nairn and Matt Mercer, for example). If you like B or C-tier fantasy films, you might give this series a go - keeping in mind that the first film, specifically, is more rough around the edges.

There's not really much to say about this one. If it's not considered a cult classic yet, it will be. So much heart. So much cheese. So much fun. It's a callback to the '80s/'90s, and "Mad Max on a BMX" just doesn't do it enough justice. Personally, I really love this movie.

A biopunk/cyberpunk film starring Bai Ling. The CGI looked dated when it released in 2007 (think Ultraviolet with Milla Jovovich), so it looks all that much worse today, nearly 15 years later. Other than that, I feel it's an enjoyable Saturday afternoon sci-fi film if you set your brain to simmer.

As far as B movies go, I feel like this falls into the B+ category. It doesn't try to be anything more than it is, which is a fun and goofy movie.

This one's an independent, low-budget movie. It's a fun and raunchy indie horror-comedy based on Lovecraftian mythos. Don't go in expecting too much and you'll have a good time. You may find yourself asking what in the hell you're watching in the first 15-20 min, but press onward. This is for fans of stuff like Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, specifically. Despite the small budget, it works for what it is, and you can tell the entire team had a great time making this film.

It's not amazing by any stretch, but for all of its flaws, it's a great little independent low-budget sci-fi film for fans of Cronenberg and Lovecraft. This absolutely has the makings of a cult classic written all over it.

This is a pretty decent vampire movie that's off the beaten path and probably won't make many lists as far as recommendations for vampire films. It features Adrian Paul, the lovely Bai Ling, and a slightly wooden performance from Bokeem Woodbine. Other than some early-2000s CGI moments, it actually holds up pretty well.

This film explores a series of events in 1996 when citizens of Varginha, Brazil, reported seeing one or more strange creatures and a UFO crash.
A more-than-decent look at the Varginha, Brazil, UFO/creature incident from 1996. It starts a little slow, but really held my attention once it got going. I wasn't familiar with any of it going in. Surprisingly, there weren't really any "eye roll" moments or oversensationalization that are common with these kinds of things. I think the interviewer wants to amp it up, but the language barrier and translators keep him reeled in. It's fairly engaging and not super over the top.
