  • This is worthy of an Austin Powers sketch.

  • Ronald Dion DeSantis, you MUST use his full legal name now.

  • Write the the game as a series of gamebooks written in the "choose your own adventure" style of branching narrative . With skill checks and decisions , for the combats list the tactics the monster(s) will use and their stat blocks and include a battlemap and counters for the fight. Mechanically you can use any system you like for your game book , but something simple like D20 SRD rules should work well and be royalty free.

  • Transport Tycoon

    Doom

Goldeneye 64 (I bought a N64 console just for this game)

    Frontier Elite

    Baldur's gate

    Fallout 2

    X : Beyond The Frontier

  • He has been quite clear in his views he views the mods as landed gentry and the common users as peasants . Fuck Spez.

  • If you run an ad blocker and no ads turn up when you browse , they they won't get ad money from you. Negating the value of engagement.

  • I am lurking and watching the dumpster fire at this point , reddit went full Authoritarian on Dndmemes and sacked a bunch of cool mods because we turned it into a goblin porn subreddit for the shutdown/blackout and the admins did not like that... so I am posting here now and watching Reddit burn in the distance.

  • Yes I am all for the idea of opposing hateful groups , but adopting their tactics and becoming just as hateful is not the way to accomplish this.

  • One thing we need to break into a billion tiny dust like pieces is the idea of "Super Moderators" who control hundreds of different boards . This idea lead to the group think that infected Reddit , because when a "Super Moderator" succumbs being prejudiced then it can effect the entire site , either directly on sites the now abusive "Super Moderator" deletes all posts that challenge their prejudices , or indirectly via a chilling effect when the abusive "Super Moderator" bans people from ALL of the subreddits they control, just for interacting with subreddits they disagree with , regardless of the content of those interactions , and with zero hope for appeal since any attempt at communication will be met with silence and a mute.

  • Do not imagine for an instant that if Lemmy/Kbin becomes like Reddit and embraces enshitification that the community will not walk again.

  • Use public key encryption programs like Open PGP or GNU Privacy Guard.

BUT you will want a program that is under active community development which releases regular updates to address any weaknesses or flaws as soon as they are developed , and ideally you want to be able to hand a copy to all trusted people you would like to securely communicate with.

  • I will always like the C64 version best because that is the system I had in the 80s and 90s

  • The fediverse is far more open to the idea of being a "marketplace of ideas" .

That is what Reddit was before Spez got greedy and abandoned the liberal ideas that made Reddit great when Aaron Swartz was around.

  • That can be difficult in a small town where the only supermarket is supplied exclusively by a wholesaler who has a deal with Nestle. And ordering candy from Amazon will just mean you get melted and/or spoiled chocolate weeks after you order.

  • Stay away from advertising money , if you need money to keep a server up then start a gofundme or a patreon or something ... make it community based so that your instance stays community based .

  • Being a grognard is not a bad thing , having an experienced gamer who "has been here since the beginning " at the table who knows roleplaying backwards, forwards and sideways can be a valuable resource to a club , they can be mentors and leaders and now that many are hitting retirement age and now have the kind of free time they have not had since their teens they are available and bored , and they have been mulling over campaign ideas for years as well as reflecting on things that make some sessions memorable and other sessions be utter dumpster fires.

  • if they keep it up at this rate Linux will be the only OS people use by the year 3090 (16.66 years per percentage point)

  • Fuck Spez , I have bailed out of Reddit , it is beyond saving because structurally it is built on a flawed concept of assuming benevolent admins who work for the good of the community , and that is no longer the case , they are too far gone to be able to salvage value from that place and we are better off rebuilding better here.
