Russian woman traveling to the US through Mexico complains that everyone hates Russians.
  • That's a really interesting point. Maybe because the North Korean govt is seen as persecuting it's citizens. Therefore it's citizens are seen as the victims (despite some citizens being the perpetrators).

Whereas Russian citizens are seen as the perpetrators (as invading soldiers) along with the leadership and surrounding countries are seen as the victims.

  • Why this GP wants employers to stop asking for medical certificates
  • Genuine question. GPs complain about the complexity of cases increasing and therefore higher Medicare rates should apply. While I completely agree with this (my GP 1000% needs to be paid more), shouldn't that mean that they like low complexity visits like this? Bring someone in, sign med cert, you are on your way. They have probably spent 5-10mins of a 15min appointment and can use that time to catch up.

  • When I quit my supermarket job after getting my accounting degree my manager tried to convince me to stay, saying they had plans to promote me into management and eventually I could work my way into a head office position.

Umm, no thanks, I think I'll take the job that I've been working towards getting for years.

  • What was your best decision in life?
  • If you are actually interested there was movement, not sure if still going, a few years ago called financial independence. It was r/financialindependence. One of their influencers was Mr Money Moustache. You can look that up if you want

  • so much for modern medicine
  • But the vaccines literally have zero to do with the US administration. Why would the president inform your medical decision making process? With the exception of J&J (which I know nothing of), they were developed and manufactured outside the US.

In Australia people also have issues. They are calling it vaccine fatigue here, where people aren't getting their boosters and also aren't getting their flu shots. People are getting tired of vaccines. I admit I'm behind on mine. I had my 4th shot last April, and you are meant to have a booster every 6 months. So far I've had 2x Pfizer, 1x Novavax/Nuvaxovid and 1x Moderna. I've also had covid 3 times. Every shot (except Novavax surprisingly) makes me have minimum 2 days off in bed/on the couch with symptoms and I find myself putting it off.

  • Really? Can it integrate with Google drive? I might have to check this out.

I have to draw on pdfs (think, check things are correct, tick and cross things) and currently download from Google drive, use foxit, then reupload.

However foxit has commenced down the enshitification path (previously free features like pdf bookmarks now behind a pay wall), so I'm looking for alternatives.

  • Who is responsible for requesting/issuing cell phone coverage upgrades?
  • Sorry I know this is a super old comment, but I was browsing my comment history.

Australia has 3 networks that actually build and own physical towers. Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. Any other network is a reseller of one of these 3.

Optus seems to be the most common that is resold. I know belong and Aldi resell Telstra but I don't know any that resell Vodafone (could he wrong).

  • Sounds familiar?
  • I had that happen to a team member (me as a manager). She came to give me notice, the pay jump was huge. 45k to 70k. I loved her and I tried to swing it with my boss, but the ultimate answer was no and she left. I hope she is happy now. She really was awesome and I wish she stayed working for me, but I'm happy for her. She was a single mom to 2 teenagers so there's no way she couldn't accept that money

  • Cube of tiny homes
  • At least units/condos have enough parking. Here they approve sky scrapers of 3 bedroom units with 2 car parks in tiny streets. Those then get rented to 3-5 people (after allowing for couples) and these tiny streets become smaller with overcrowded parking.

  • Been a royal can be complicated
  • She was last seen properly in public on Christmas Day 2023. She had surgery early January. Info is all vague. There's been 2 recent paparazzi pics of her recently, grainy through car windows).

That's the background, not sure about the death idea the other commenter said. Maybe there's a conspiracy that she's dead?
