It should be noted that geosynchronous and geostationary are not the same. Geosynchronous does mean that it orbits the earth at 1 rotation per day, but depending on inclination and/or eccentricity, it doesn't stay still, it will draw out a slow loop or figure-8 from any given observer's perspective. The latter thing you're describing is a geostationary orbit; satellites in a geosynchronous orbit above the equatorial plane, with 0 inclination and eccentricity, stay at exactly the same spot in the sky at all times, and are said to be geostationary, or to be in GEO (rather than GSO).

The controller was previously calibrated to its old stick. If you change the stick, you have to recalibrate it.

I don't know, but I suspect they'd've advertised it if that's the case.

For what it's worth though, I've been using an 8bitdo Pro (the predecessor to the Ultimate) daily since early 2020, including a lot of Splatoon (a game with a lot of holding and mashing of both triggers), and the triggers haven't gotten the least bit soft or drifty, and (according to the Windows controller config screen, at least) still smoothly pull through the full analogue range. So they're doing something good, anyway.

It's USB-C. You can see it in the photos. It can also use the cord to act as a wired controller.

That's probably true, but I'm not an expert, which is why I just vaguely described it as them wearing out.

Plastic parts grinding down was a separate clause, and is mostly a problem for optical disk sticks; the N64, most notably.

DId you recalibrate it after the swap? That definitely shouldn't happen.

The solution to stick drift is buying controllers with Hall Effect joysticks; drift is caused by plastic parts literally grinding down and potentiometers wearing out. Hall Effect sticks don't make contact, so they don't have this issue. Since you like the Xbox layout, 8BitDo's Ultimate controller could be a good third-party option for you.

These are wildly different medications. Meth is occasionally used for ADHD when nothing else works, but it requires careful medical supervision, for life. A pharmacist subbing out your amphetamine salts for meth will go to jail. Adderal is not meth, any more than caffeine is adrenaline, or morphine is fentanyl.

You say you "have family" with ADHD; do you mean you have multiple different family members on different medications? Because 9 outta 10 times someone tells me they know someone on "meth" for ADHD, they've misread methylphenadate; Ritalin.

I live in a fishing town, and I used to love crab, until I was adult and it was my turn to prep them. The first time I turned a crab over and saw the bottom, where all its freaky little legs connect, I had a real "oh god this is either a bug or a space alien" moment. I can't stand crab anymore, just the thought of it makes me feel nauseated. Lobster too. Somehow shrimps are okay, though.

Bowling is kind of a clutch sport for a Federation starship, if you think about it.

• Bowling alleys are long and narrow, which means you can fit one in by shaving a little off a lot of rooms instead of a lot off a few rooms. They're infinitely scalable, too; you can have a 2-lane alley, or a 200-lane alley, whatever fills your space. You can even stack them; if you've got two three-lane-wide spaces on adjacent decks, just add a staircase.
• Bowling accomodates a wide range of player counts; a lane might be one guy whose friends are all on-shift, trying to nail a perfect game, or it might be a scheduled five-member team competing against four other teams. There's not a lot of "big room" sports that take up less space per player than bowling. Especially in the future, where the machinery is probably one micro-repulsor emitter in the ball return and a tiny antigrav in each pin.
• Bowling is easy to teach: even aliens who've never heard of it can pretty easily pick up "roll this ball across that floor to hit those sticks".
• Somewhat relatedly, bowling is very social; if you're on a team, you're not actually playing n-1 shares of the time, so you can chat with your teammates, other players, etc. Good for both crew bonding, and for diplomacy.

Anecdotally, and perhaps ironically, they were right, I am dyslexic, and I definitely do perceive letters as permuted quite often. The second link really chuffs me because it's clearly a non-dyslexic person openly speculating as if they're authoritative, but this theory of "3d processing" words jives with neither other literature about dyslexia, nor my own experience. I'm pretty sure this is just someone showerthinking about a disorder. The errors I make are pretty incompatible with seeing whole words from the wrong "angle"; letters are switched, sometimes even between adjacent words (I might see "angle" as "angel", or "and rain" as "an drain"), similar graphs are misread as each other (the classic example is [b / d / p / q], sometimes also g depending on font; [w / m / E], [e / a], [T / L], so on), words can be entirely displaced elsewhere in a sentence...

So yes, like, I definitely do see some letters backwards or upside down or mirrored, etc.
