  • I'm incredibly scrappy, so we would get by. I can farm, I can repair stuff, I have a good work ethic, and I get along well with myself.

In certain sciences, we're just fucked, though. I guess we just don't do some of that anymore.

Edit: Also, probably about 80% of the world's computer resources are now serving massive collaborative Luanti build servers. I'm not proud of this, but it's definitely what the collective mass of my selves would do with all of our free time.

Edit 2: I guess we also probably implement a worldwide tax on all income by all copies of me, to pay a few hundred copies of me to contribute to the Luanti project full time.

  • But we found a great example script using the API as a proof-of-concept in a way that doesn't help us.

Next Thursday, we're attending the funeral of the user who posted it.

We hope to meet some of their colleagues during the wake, and get a lead on ways to make the API actually work.

  • Maybe doesn't count for this thread, but I love donating supplies to local school rooms, because I sometimes get hand-drawn thank-you cards.

I've put those hand-drawn thank-yous in a drawer to be specially part of my kid's inheritance - as a reminder for them of what really matters in life.

  • I took an early job or two where I was paid shit, but learning a ton. I told myself I would make up for it later by building up marketable skills.

Today, I'm paid quite nicely because I built up lots of marketable skills. 10/10. I would do it that way again.

That said, obviously I didn't stay at those (shitty paying) jobs long term.

  • he also lamented that the firings may have already harmed the NSA’s ability to retain and attract top cybersecurity talent, as those affected seek more stable employment options.

This is utterly embarrassing to who contributed to the firings.

And it'll likely go beyond embarrassment, well into national security, before all the long term damage is fully counted.

We're collectively breaking even at best, and getting our asses handed to us, at worst, and they're firing people to save a nickel.

This is a textbook case of penny smart being dollar stupid.
