  • Sure, but I think it undermines democrats who have been willing to go to bat for Mamdani like Jerry Nadler and Chris Van Hollen.

I’d like to see as much praise for these people as we see condemnation of people like Gillibrand. The democrats are genuinely split here and it would be valuable to see the correct side come out on top.

  • Haha no worries.

  • What does this have to do with lemmygrad?

  • Is silicone toxic?

  • Yeah absolutely, I think it’s also important to remember dems aren’t a monolith and many have their own takes and opinions despite often being influenced by the same harmful forces.

For example, Jerry Nadler had a pretty strong endorsement of Mamdani despite being what I would perceive as a pretty standard democrat. I am hopeful that more democrats can be forced to support him and we can avoid this dem civil war narrative but we’ll have to see.

  • There might be some things the mayor could do, like joining boycotts, etc.

Certainly he can stop or interfere with the crackdown on pro-palestinian dissent in the city which has been extreme under Adams and Trump.

  • No this one’s him. The ones that sound kinda like a normal human are the interns.

  • How is this fucking poor people? They’re providing them free infrastructure upgrades.

I am in the process of electrifying and it saves me money. The electrical options are much more efficient and gas is expensive.

  • That’s the conventional wisdom. But the power of the state was so much weaker back then.

  • Shifting baselines. It makes me wonder if people in the bad old times of monarchy might have actually been more free than we are now.

  • What’s the legal standard in the Netherlands? Anyone know? Seems relevant here.

  • Won’t someone rid us of this turbulent shitstain?

  • No, they love slaves, which babies will become if we withhold from them the necessities of life for long enough.

The ones that live at least.

  • I truly lost the plot on this meme lol. How did this even start?

  • It seems like it might finally be materializing. I don’t know every detail of Mamdani’s politics but they do seem genuinely left by American standards. I can’t think of a further left candidate that has won a prominent election in this country.

  • No, it’s happening everywhere. But I’ve also seen some significant resistance happening in other cities like NYC, Newark, Portland, Chicago, Seattle, SF, etc.

  • Should be, but NYC has a surprisingly conservative streak. Just look at their past mayors.

  • Yeah it’s complicated. It might help more radical campaigns to launch but the actual tally should favor consensus candidates who I expect to be moderate. But it will be interesting to see what happens.

  • I figured that may not have been your intention, just wanted to voice this because I’ve seen an increasing number of politically illiterate or dishonest people arguing that polls are fabricated and should be ignored, or similar nonsense.

  • I actually think RCV is maybe bad for Mamdani. He has a lot of energy but is the furthest left candidate. RCV tends to favor moderates, and Cuomo is probably perceived as more moderate, rightly or wrongly.
