Everything old is new again.
  • Oh yeah, I don't think either are great, but at least Uber didn't require drivers to submit to some crazy legal Ponzi scheme while paying for special driver's licenses and competing with other drivers for the good shifts on a shared taxi licence. The Taxi mafia lobbied my city pretty hard and now Ubers get the opportunity to lose money to a middle man too! I've seen a bunch of taxis straight up also driving for Uber throughout the city.

  • Everything old is new again.
  • Taxi drivers in my city also have something else Uber drivers don't- a licence that was bought decades ago and is limited to a certain number, they never expire and can be bought and sold between private parties and you end up with one asshole who owns a bunch and rents out the licenced car to drivers who pay him a rent. It's a pretty hardcore mafia and predates on immigrants.

They are also fucking maniacs who almost kill people every day with their reckless driving, but Ubers do that too.

  • So you said it yesterday without any proof or knowledge? Why would you make such a statement when you come from a place of ignorance? Would you have come here and declared you've reversed your position and apologized to the people you zealously argued against from said place of ignorance or did you only do so when called out?

  • American healthcare be like
  • I never understand this, the last time I needed an MRI I got it done within the same day. Canadian healthcare can have its downsides but when you need something you get it quick.

  • American healthcare be like
  • Canadian healthcare - I got surgery within the space of a month for something totally non-life-threatening and didn't pay a cent other than my taxes, which cost less than American health insurance monthly. The amount of people I know who went to the US to get simple procedures done is exactly zero, and all this information is directly from - a Canadian.

Where do you all buy parts?

Hi all, I'm new to this community and this is me attempting to participate.

I've been repairing and building bikes for a good long while now. Mostly I bought parts off of Amazon or my local bike stores but I've run into a bit of an issue finding a bullhorn bar-end brake-lever/shifter combo for a 1x8 road bike. I can't find anything being made currently anywhere. I'm even starting to consider contacting some local machinists I know.

I guess this is the danger of endlessly customizing bikes to the point where you want to do stuff no one else has any interest in doing.

So let me know where you guys get parts and what your favorite procurement methods are for rare stuff.

    Recs for leveling up?

I'm new to bouldering, I started 3.5 months ago and love it. I was wondering what kind of training routines you all recommend for advancing? When do you decide to move on to more difficult problems? Any personal words of wisdom?

    Mostly posting for content.
