The world has a justice problem. Imo we are not vigilant enough to weed out injustice when it happens. Justice is what also rewards you for doing good. Do good in a job, get promotion. Do bad, get demotion or get fired. Even in school most teachers have their darlings and don’t care about those struggling. At least the schools I‘ve seen so far.
Games promote very good reward systems that we fail to use as grownups for things that actually matter instead of raking in money for investors.
I think there should be law that forces online games to have a „switch“ to change from public servers to private ones when they shut the public ones down.
There also needs to be a law that makes all inventions that are no longer sold public domain immediately, including machines and everything else. As in „this car is no longer sold so it’s building plans go public and people can rebuild it and build parts without copyright infringement.“
This will force companies to either give up their IP or maintain it while making money with it instead of artificially shortening the lifespan of a product while raking in billions.
We absolutely need to understand that companies didn’t make more profit every year in the past. Profits were to bolster bad years. Today, if a company doesn’t have a great year, it gets sold and then closed. (Obviously gross oversimplification but the pattern is clear).
As someone else pointed out, dbt is quite helpful if someone never learned to cope and receives trauma/stumbles in life. This helped me a lot.
Additionally, it was my own curiosity and drivenness.
Watching and reading for countless hours and actively being aware of similarities to stereotypes helped me get a feel for situation.
Then learning about things I suspected I might be struggling with, then pointing therapists and psychiatrists in the direction until they either confirmed or denied it with evidence backing it up.
This led to a very tailored diagnosis and therapy which now helps me feel more in control than I‘ve ever been in my life (I never thought I lacked control until I found out how little I had).
Being allowed and accepted in my way of existing has changed practically everything. It even showed me that I‘m lucky to be alive since my condition, combined with mx childhood usually spells doom.
It’s still a ton to think about and a burden of sorts but it’s no comparison to the self doubt I had before without realizing.
TL;DR: I think the best therapy is enabled by a thorough diagnosis, fueled by an interested patient.
Disclaimer: Obviously I‘m talking about actual science allthough it can be frustrating. Fringe science and esoterics provide easy and comforting answers but it is not the way imo.
German intellectual here. I and others have been severely beaten, harassed and fired on multiple occasions for being intellectual.
Pointing out a flaw in someones plan, finding errors in reports (that are actually important to its findings) and other work related things.
It very much depends what region in germany and what class you‘re born into. If you‘re vastly different from your surroundings, you‘re in for a bad trip.
I agree. Both aren’t perfect but the gaming industry is far worse (and so is software development in general) with abuse and lack of mental health resources.
I get that you‘re frustrated for more reasons than a freshly released game has bugs but this is literally the first time I hear of bg 3 being not completeable. What specs are you running on?
Not trying to troll you but technically, that would also preclude being able to expand your skillset since you can only do what you‘re already good at.
Then again, I‘m probably splitting hairs. Thanks for elaborating.
Heyo! Your question led me to check some stuff since my wife wants to upgrade at some point as well.
Since we are slowly moving away from the intel/nvidia/windows ecosphere towards amd/linux/open source, we figured she should go with am5 when she changes her motherboard.
The b650-s and ryzen 5 7600 combined with gskill ripjaws s5 32gig. All together was roughly 500 bucks. The cooler needs to go on top obviously. We already have a gpu but if we needed one I‘d probably go with the amd 7600 since it is fairly new and pretty cheap.
Just so you know, I have put in quite some reaearch on gpus recently but nothing else so I‘m fairly positive about the gpu, a little less certain on the rest. The 7600 is not far from the 6700 xt imo and better in terms of fps per dollar/euro.
The nvidia 3060ti is pretty much the same but I think amd is the better decision going forward since nvidia is being a dick about their drivers forever and amd is more futureproof if you leave windows.
Yes, that’s lemmy for you. You happened to point out something in a way that showed some frustration and people started attacking you for it.
They are either 12 or 42 and live in their mothers basement with linux as their whole identity. They don’t read thoroughly nor do they accept criticism.
I‘ve encountered them before. Don’t worry. If this makes you feel bad, consider wording your comments differently.
Maybe expand a bit on why and don’t answer to obvious troll questions, at least not honestly, like the implication that you‘re using pirated windows.
A complete moron could have seen that you were just frustrated with seeing no way out of windows and getting it blindly suggested still. That is not your fault.
I‘m actually not even sure where I heard this. Good that you mention it now. I‘ll be on the lookout. This is why it’s important to talk about stuff every now and then.
Thanks for posting this. Most I read about these days is how it has never made any dent scientifically but maybe I‘m getting sucked into propaganda there.
