  • Fun fact: moths don't actually fly towards flames/lights. They have an instinct to orient their backs towards the light, presumably so that they can fly parallel to the moon at night which keeps them parallel to the ground.

They don't fly into lights intentionally, instead they keep re-orienting their back to it in a tighter and tighter spiral until they hit it.

  • Absolutely. It's tragic that it was universally agreed that it's silly to track casting components on wizards. I mean, it makes perfect sense and I agree. But it's incredible and evocative to imagine your wizard using fur and a glass rod to generate static electricity to cast lightning bolt.

  • That's only kind of true. There's a lot of money that could be found in funding Gaza. As someone made a point elsewhere in this thread. Money was made in Ukraine due to us funding it and some creative accounting, but the smart money move was to allow Russia to invade and save money/exploit off the back of the chaos.

In an almost identical way the U.S. could have funded Gaza and made money dragging out the war, but it didn't happen because of decades of entrenched racism and Zionism.

  • They literally hire people just to make up these scenarios to hire more people to make up contingency plans for them. I feel like once a year an article comes out that's like "the US has a contingency plan in case Sweden falls to communism and arms itself with nuclear weapons" and it's like: yeah, ok.

  • RWJ is one of those people who every time I hear of him he's doing something I would expect from a zoomer tiktok star who's in their crash out phase and I'm like, yeah makes sense, I guess I only know that guy as a meme lord but then I remember he's in his late 30s or early 40s and him melting down like he's 22 and doesn't know any better is just embarrassing.

  • Unfortunately, Elon Musk almost certainly wrote this tweet not knowing or being too high to realize that it was slander (or libel?) and if anything happens it will probably be Elon getting roasted in court.

Still cool to have Elon get humiliated but Trump is the one who deserves justice handed to him for his ties to Epstein.

  • Does it stay up? Yes.

Can you sleep in it? Technically

Does it have running electricity and water? (Optional anyway)

Another big win for vibe coders. Pack it up, we're taking the W home.

  • And all the libertarians cry about is how it's not real free markets and that's why we don't have nice trains and public education etc. not understanding that it's government funding and regulations that's just barely keeping everything (pun intended) on the rails in the first place.

  • This is how I think of it. I'm not arguing on the Internet to change the person's mind. I'm arguing to make sure anyone reading the thread in the future doesn't come away with the impression that the other person's argument is flawless.

I'm happy to end an argument by just repeating the facts that the other person is getting wrong. I know their mind isn't getting changed but I hope that anyone that comes along later will be able to read the thread and clearly understand the logical disconnect the other person's argument has.

Especially arguing against someone in certain subcultures like the manosphere, yeesh. Their arguments are so subjective and centered around feelings that often all you can do is point that out and hope someone who comes along later sees that their arguments really make no sense.
