Still rocking my Pixel 4a 5G and refuse to upgrade until I absolutely have to.
The camera is more than sufficient, I still get compliments on my photos. The interface is perfectly fine. The battery lasts all day and you'll pry my aux port from my cold, dead hands!
I'm tired of supporting these yearly releases when there's been hardly any meaningful change in generations.
Okay. So we'll do it again in less time because we have lessons to draw on. This version of Lemmy is already better than early Reddit for anybody that remembers.
It's the sorting method I was using, in case anybody else had that issue. If you select "Top Day" it will only include posts from the past day and not continue to list the posts throughout the history in descending chronological order like you might think it would. Just an FYI.
I think a lot of people scoffing at the numbers don't realize that 8% is not insignificant for a site as robust and long lived as Reddit. That's a pretty huge change in a short period of time. It will be interesting to see what happens when the third party apps shut down.
Of course it will, Digg is still around and so is Myspace. These sites rarely "die" in the sense of shutting down but just become a husk of its former self.
I believe it, my partner has experienced this first hand many times and it's why I now go with them to doctors to help advocate. It's incredibly frustrating that we have to do that to get doctors to listen, but apparently doctors are more prone to listen to me even though it's happening to their body.
Partner: "This is really hurting"
Dr: "that's normal for your age"
Me: "no, it's gotten really bad they need a lot of help from me to do things they normally wouldn't need help with"
I'm not big on video content so that doesn't bother me at all, but I could see how that might hold some people back if they prefer that. Funnily enough, I often won't click a link if I see it goes to a video instead of an article.
That being said PeerTube is in the works, still a ways to go but it's comin'
That's what happens when the core DC audience rejects the movie because you refuse to recast the garbage human that's playing the protagonist. As an Enby, Ezra makes me even more angry because when you mention non-binary they're typically the first celebrity that comes to mind for a lot of people. I'm glad that they're likely never going to be able to land any more large movies like this.
I typically re-read the LOTR, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion once a year. Well, The Silmarillion is once every two years because, whew, it is a dense one.
Found my new favorite science communicator, she did such an awesome job here! I'll have to check out the rest of her videos because she seems to cover a lot of different science topics.
Before everyone freaks out, this has zero impact on our communities. Chill.
They can already do this by bringing content from Mastodon to Meta platforms via links and screen grabs, this only speeds up the process.
Personally, I love that they're not federating day one. Because I don't want any instances I use to federate with them, I don't want to be connected to a Meta platform unless I deliberately go to a Meta platform to use it.
To expedite the process, Mastodon instances should just defederate from them entirely. Don't let them access that data through ActivityPub. They can build their own platform on the Fediverse and we can have our network of smaller connected instances.
Them doing this does not affect our communities unless we let it. Defederate from them and we can go on our merry way and they can have their own ad laden instance that's not connected.
Everyone, relax. Continue building your communities here and ignore Meta in their unconnected instances.
And that's okay, we can all enjoy the Fediverse on our preferred instances and platforms. Whether that be lemmy.world, lemmy.ca, beehaw, etc. or another platform like Kbin or Mastodon. That's the beauty of this federated design.
We go can deeper...
