So, it sounds (actually, 'reads)' like a treatise written by someone indoctrinated into the 'Linux - C++' ideology (theocracy? The Religion of IT? Way back in the 'olden days', we referred to 'getting a job at IBM' as 'entering the Priesthood' ). The term 'instance' comes directly out of the obscure-to-the-masses lexicon of C++, Please, translate your indoctrinated terminology into something more identifiable and familiar to the masses in order for us plebians to follow it.
Or at least provide a 'definition of terms' translation service, written without any reference to exclusively in-house terminology in the description.
Also, it would be really, really useful to modify the 'messages' coding such that, when clicking to link to the post in 'messages' to see the original post, the reader went directly to their post in the thread, instead of starting at the top and having to scroll through page after page of other irrelevant posts in order to see just the activity on their original post.
The problem is not Trump. America would be in the same predicament no matter who was leading or what party or what ideology they had. Obama hit the nail on the head when he talked about the dangers of financializing America - making money on money instead of making product. A substantia portion of the American GDP has nothing to do with generating tangible wealth, it is a result of inflating paper wealth - the value pf stocks, the price of gold, the value of real estate, the interest payments from other people on borrowed money, interest on your savings account that is only as valuable as the bank that holds the account. None of this wealth can actually buy anything tangible, except more paper wealth. Eventually, the country begins to look like Musk - on paper, enormously wealthy, but in terms of liquid money, unable to buy very much. Musk has to use his paper asset wealth to BORROW real money on, if he wants to do anything big.
Generally, Trump is not alone. All of America is just running around stupidly cuckoo crazy because they realize there is not a single thing they can do to actually stop the decline. They are in pure panic mode, grasping at anything that comes along, and panic is always chaotically unpredictable except for the nature of the outcome.. All they can do is to position themselves individually so that when the country goes 'splat' they have a chance of surviving.
For Canada to avoid the splat, we need to put as much distance between us and the 'splat' as we can, instead of being at ground zero of the impact.
Precisely. Vance will use Trump's erratic behavior as a reason to have him impeached by the mid-terms, and then Vance will fulfill his goal of becoming President.
On the contrary, it just perpetuates the problem. It does not stop the insidious creep, it just pretends it is not there. Like burying one's head in the sand. The trick is to stop it from happening in the first place. Americans are quite adept at doing it in their own country (blocking out and filtering the influences of the rest of the world on their culture) so why can Canadians not do the same thing?
Americans make it so easy to hate them. Part of it is that Americans hate everyone who is NOT an American or American ass-kisser.
Because like it or not, having a state mass media empire controlled by a religious faction, or a person who avowedly professes to want that religious faction to dominate government policy, does not equate with an impartial view of the world.
Did you know that the University of Waterloo, Canada, is the Western world leader in quantum computing? The trick for Canada is to prevent Google and Alphabet from claiming OUR success stories and accomplishments as their own.
That s the problem. I was desperately hopping that this web site (insrtance?) would be a solution, but t seems that the Americans are so insidious, they will infiltrate ANY website. The solution s not to start a new instance the solution is to police the existing instances to keep the Americans out. As long as the Americans have access, they will dominate, period.
As a Canadian, I am completely resentful that an American would try to tell me what I want my Canadian culture to be. If we want to re-appropriate the term 'woke' and give it whatever meaning and inuendo we as Canadians want, that is fine with me. But to have an AMERICN define the term for us? Not so much. There is nothing wrong with the term 'woke' that getting rid of white supremacy will not solve. The irony of this s that the rest of the world has to be woken up to this realty before this will happen.
An interesting tidbit to highlight my point. The first incandescent light bulb was patented in Canada, and Edison bought the patent. Still, as Canadians, we recite the US propaganda that Edison invented it. We know more about America than we do about ourselves, (and most of what we know about America is false) because we keep highlighting the US instead of highlighting Canadian achievements, even in a community that is labelled 'Canada'. This would never happen to any site in the US. We need to start promoting CANADA on a site labeled 'Canada'.
For example, the largest IBM manufacturing assembly plant in the WORLD for their semiconductors is in Quebec. How many Canadians know that? Part of the insidiousness, Canadians know more about America than we do about ourselves, and this CANADIAN site doesn't do very much to change that. Most posts on Canadian sites still carry the undertone of American dominance in Canadian affairs and economy.
I wholeheartedly agree. The West has gotten what it deserves. America squandered everything, and is now left with nothing but scraps.
Wake up, people.
Taiwan makes 50% of the world's semiconductor 'chips'. They just announced a US$100 billion investment to build a fab plant in the US, to manufacture chips in the US. A few things about that.
No American company has anywhere close to $100 billion to invest in anything, The American corporations used their profits to buy back their stock not to invest n production. What cash they had left over, they invested in stocks and bonds, which they have to try and sell before they can use the money. American corporations are. essentially, cash liquidity poor despite their huge profits. They do not have the liquidity to build anything. Musk may be the world's richest man on paper, but a few Chinese financiers have much greater liquidity wealth than he does, and they are actually able to BUILD things. It is the difference between financialized wealth and actual money.
South Asia has enough investment money to build more kilometers (miles, if you are American) of high speed rail every year for the last several years than the US has TOTAL, and this money is just a drop in the bucket to them. There just is not enough liquidity in American corporations to build anywhere close to what China can do. American corporations squandered their wealth in the pursuit of maximizing profit payouts to shareholders, and the shareholders just used this capital to buy the same shares at higher and higher prices Not a penny of that money went into building new plant, it just went to increasing the price of existing shares.
Essentially, America is becoming a branch plant operation of Chinese corporations with profits going back to South Asian investors, and Americans get stupidly low wages. America is rapidly becoming the low-wage country of the world. The lower the stock market goes, the cheaper it is for South Asian money to buy up control of American corporations. When GM went bankrupt, China bought the restructured shares. When Ford almost went bankrupt, China bought the non-American Ford subsidiaries to save Ford, but essentially gained complete control of Ford. All profits from Ford auto sales go back to China. Haier now owns General Electric Appliance Division, and is now making what are essentially Haier appliances in America, using cheap slave-labor-wage Americans to build them cheaper than they can in China. All the profits, however, go back to China.
The Law of Unintended Consequences. The Trump misguided policies are just accelerating the sell-off of America. Trump wants foreign corporations to build their product in America, using cheap American labor, ignoring completely that the profits all flow out of America and the foreign investors now control American production.
Like Trump said, it is a good time to get rich. Like Trump dd NOT say, it is the South Asians that are getting rich. China owns most of the American treasury bills, now China will soon own most of the American production plant.
And every one of them has been insidiously inundated with American culture. Generally, the talk is all about how America is affecting Canada. That s a tacit acknowledgement of this insidious creep.
China is now the largest and most influential economy on the planet, not the US, but I don't see China's cultural influence everywhere.
And exactly how would I stop this American cultural creep into it, except by continuous moderation and filtering out all cases of it? It is in the nature of Americans to spread their culture into all mass media, digital is just an extension of this.
Sorry, but the term is 'AMERICAN' citizen. But I agree, the United States of America has appropriated the label 'America' to exclusively refer to them. That is exactly the insidious creep I am talking about.
It is currently mostly about how America is influencing Canada, or what the implcation of Trump's Presidency will be on Canada. It is still American culture being discussed.
The problem is, EVEY community seems to have been inundated with American culture, even the ostensibly Canadian community. It is insidious in the sense that the main topic of discussion is about what is happening in America. That is the cultural creep.
