Oh? Weird I totally thought I read a ~3 month old post announcing it.
I don't recall it being a thing back then but I must have been mistaken. Part of the reason I never migrated was how similar lemmy was to redesigned reddit.
Canada has always been in bed with the USA. USA funds Israel down to their universal healthcare.
Truth & Reconciliation wise... I think Canadians need to acknowledge that our quality of life was built on the very injustices we're waking up to.
Our gov't does nothing for Palestine because they know that Canadians will care more about the negative effects to their standard of living cause by a fallout with the USA, than Palestinians.
I don't know what Canada could do that would meaningfully benefit Palestinians, that wouldn't also aggravate the USA.
I think in the long term Canada undermining the USA's economic dominance is probably the only thing we can do unless we're willing to endure some suffering ourselves.
it only ended because he happened to get caught in the act at an event.
Always. Always. Always.
I'm not huge on holding people legally accountable for the actions of others; but I do think that adults who ignore children telling they're being abused are also guilty on some level of abuse.
My former bully had been creating deepfakes with social media and photos he'd taken at youth events. Probably would have gone on much longer but he tried to catfish them and was caught.
Honestly I'm all for having a party of fiscal responsibility. If only conservatives would step up to the plate and fulfill that role!
Yea seeing the mentality of the 2 commentors who support LBC has me questioning if it's actually activism or just standard attention seeking behaviour.
I said legitimate opponent. Meaning she seems like a good person for the job. Not that she was a serious contender with a chance to win.
She's an independent not an LPC or CPC member so you're comparing apples to oranges.
Name recognition is the single most important factor in being elected. It's factually incorrect to suggest that there would be no difference between a few independent candidates and over 100.
At the end of the day what does LBC stand for if they're undermining legitimate independent candidates?
This is actually quite disappointing PP has a legitimate independent opponent that is center right and doesn't adhere to CPC politics.
The Longest Ballot Committee has lost the plot on this one. I never supported them but if this is their level of political acumen than I would argue they do more harm than good.
