  • Conspiracy time: The individuals planting flags on sacred mountains and yelling, "death to Canada," are useful idiots that are promoted within the movement by bad actors. They sabotage movements by undermining the quality of their leadership and subverting the message.

Of course that's because our leaders are complicit in the Palestinian genocide. A fact that would become top of mind if Netanyahu's regime were publicly regarded like putims.

  • Alternate title: Generation that venerated disregarded books reading for the first time

edit: omg for some reason I thought venerated meant dislike (it means the opposite!!). This is what happens when you're given books at too young an age folks. You pull fancy words out of your ass cuz they vibe right. But you risk realizing that you probably inferred the wrong definition from wherever you learnt it.

  • You're taking a reasonable position and pushing beyond it's reasonable limits.

that is what things like the SPCA and law enforcement are for.

SPCA is a non-profit society. I don't think they have the resources to hunt down puppy mills actively trying to subvert prohibition. RCMP is a national police force. I'm fairly certain puppy mills would fall near the bottom of their priorities list.

Prohibition never works as a substitute for regulation. Look at alcohol, drugs, and prostitution. Not only does prohibition utterly fail at eliminating these practices, it demonstrably exposes people to exploitation and harm.

Prohibiting animal breeding would just mean that the people who chose to do it would have no incentive to ensure their animals aren't subjected to cruelty or harm.

  • I think a legal avenue is necessary to prevent established/responsible breeders from moving to the black market.

But I agree with the sentiment. Animal/livestock cultivation in general has become a harmful practice that we need to reduce or change practices.

  • I can't disagree with any of that. All I'll add is the saying, "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

Cuz I cannot ignore the connection between evangelical/charismatic Christianity and people susceptible to MAGA bullshit.

  • I think we'll see the wave function flip soon enough. Some young people are actively seeking the analogue world that they are too young to remember.

Schools are realizing hand written assignments do have a place in the digital age. School admins are finally stepping up and restricting cellphone usage during class times.

Parents are realizing ipads and youtube are infinitely worse than the saturday morning cartoons that filled older generations screen time.

I have a hunch we're going to see a hard swing back to analogue tech like cash, paper & pen, and face to face activities.

  • One silver lining with the whole tariffs bs is that the American automotive industry is one of the biggest government lobbyists. That's why the majority of drunk drivers only get charged with Manslaughter instead of murder. Also why our city infrastructure remains carbrained.

  • How conservatives hate a party that keeps buying them pipelines is beyond me.

But looking at the Fairy Creek resistance I think Carney is underestimating how many people are willing to physically fight to protect the environment. The RCMP have really only been dealing with non-violent protestors. People who believed the government would step in and do what's right. When that faith is gone all bets are off.

A lot of British Columbians are looking south at Washington to California and wondering if we have more in common with them than Ontario... and Carney is certainly not helping.
