  • Don’t go to communities…

So many people don’t understand people use all. This comm just seems like a reactionary meat centred sub with shit recipe videos and shilling what seems misinformation for meat centred diets. I downvote vegan sub more often and they don’t comb through and ban people for it. Though I’ve downvoted their post less than this carnivore sub recently because at least theirs seems to be focused and decent content.

I think people should put more effort into their subs rather than vote fixing under the guise of banning “drive by downvoters”.

Lemmy seems to have a real hard on for trying to dictate how the downvotes get used. Meanwhile users are creating community to use for their own personal blogs as opposed to, you know, a blog.

  • Yeah I figured it out but I already messaged the mod first, so it wasn’t worth inboxing them again to bitch about. I agree, stand alone it’s a petty comment and probably wasn’t needed. It was more in the context of who I was relying too. Appreciate your input.

  • Yeah that’s sort of what I was thinking. Maybe assigned mod IDs. So people can still bitch about mods (and have them removed if needed) but not have an actual account to dox/spam with wild shit. No idea, I’m sure people with actual brains could come up with a solution.

  • Neat! I didn’t see that, I’ll give them a read.

It's like OSHA laws. Every rule for these programs has a great misfortune behind it.

A very succinct way of phrasing it. Cheers for that and for posting the studies.

  • Hell yeah, thanks a lot for taking the time to spoon feed my ignorant butt. Very informative reply, thank you. I guess a reply would be “that can be done without DEI” but then that just circle back to your no one is colourblind remark. If google wasn’t diverse organically without DEI, I don’t have much optimism other corporations would be.

  • As much as I don’t care for DEI as a guiding “doctrine” for hiring, I also think companies shouldn’t be anti-diversity by law. Like intentionally hiring people because they aren’t white, no (and feels like tokenism/racism) but also intentionally hiring only whites (or the majority race) is a bigger no. Especially if more qualified candidates are being passed over solely because their PoC. Also companies should be inclusive so as to not be shit companies in general? Can someone tell me why my take is dumb or poorly thought out?

  • Not even big on the fuckcars movement and still I think just ban the fucking things. Most of em aren’t even owned by people who use utes for work. Practically every tradie I know has snap ons. These things are owned by fuckwits with too much money wanting to LARP as blue collar workers.

  • Cheers, even though I messaged both the mod of the comm it happened in and the LW admin relay bot (and got ignored by both LW admins got back to me :) ) I’m not sure I can be arsed. Feels like mod action should be more transparent but also, I can imagine that’d be shit to deal with as a mod too.

  • Is it possible to see who moderates a particular action if they don’t comment? These sort of posts and recently having my own post moderated for “politeness” (after implying some iamverysmart tool huffs their own farts) has lead me to believe the multiple groups having issues with LW moderation have good reason for it.

Like for this post, I want to understand people not wanting to split traffic when lemmy isn’t exactly swimming in it but I don’t know.

  • It’s a pretty common title starter and given I wasn’t certain it felt appropriate. It’s more soliciting the opinions of others rather than literally asking if someone is the only person to work something out. Not really worth getting worked up about in my opinion.

  • Isn’t 500 a http error?

Internal server error: A generic error message, given when an unexpected condition was encountered and no more specific message is suitable.

A misconfigured server isn’t really dystopian.
