This became a thing in Trump's first term. Passed Congress hidden in the defense Bill of 2019. Everyone was busy reporting on the bill also banning Huawei products.

It usually takes 20 years to reach this rank. Not only are they skipping basic and fitness, they could at least take the mandatory 4 week new officers course, right? Hah, no.

  • My question is because the news is consistently reporting on people who are following the process being detained. And your feeling doesn't even match the fake claim, which is that they're "going after criminals." Which the numbers show they aren't. So I'm really wondering if they're going after low hanging fruit since the reality is that Trump is actually deporting roughly the same amount of people Biden did.

Most recent in my state was a business owner who had been here for decades but only just now started the immigration process under Biden just got taken. They cited a DUI, but the county DA said there's no record of that.

  • Sorry to make this seem even worse, this isn't even what you think it is. Not a Niantic gps game.

It's literally like any other mobile board game. You hit the dice roll button and the piece bounces around the board and your cash goes up. That's about it. It's interactive because sometimes where you land takes money away from other players (those you have friended or randos)

    There is nothing novel here.

source: my children forced me to play with them when it was super trendy. All of their friends (and their friends parents) were playing. So. Many. Popups. It was CONSTANTLY trying to get you to spend. We did not, but know people who poured money in to keep the dice rolling

edit: also thank you for this, I always like my kids to be aware of why they or their friends are doing something. They're hyper aware of trends and marketing (but also don't want to be left behind when their friends are doing something new).

  • Just as in any job, there's the chance of pressure from above and the side. If the squad, squad leaders, or even higher up would make life hell for non participants then they might just participate regardless of their belief.

  • I'm betting (hoping?) this was done with a bit of tongue in cheek, especially since there's a nice, close up picture of the list and it uses up significant board real estate.

Humbling kids with some self awareness is great, especially in middle school. Self reflection and metacognition (why do we do what we do?) are super important tools for kids and leads to more empathy and better conflict resolution.

If this is just a teacher being a crotchety conservative, then yeah, you're right. But I'm willing to bet the kids even helped make the list and had a good time doing it.

  • I want to hard agree with Apple that people are, in fact, too stupid to choose their own apps, but not following Apple's greedy logic.

Look at the top apps and sites people use. The tech billionaires. It's stupid as hell

  • Nearly all of these systems are put on timers. So they stop cycling while you're at work or over night. They'll often make it a part of the smart home ecosystem as well, so you can override from a smart home device or phone
