  • Freedom of speech is a protection from persecution from the government, not an obligation for all other parties to be exposed to your speech.

Websites are private spaces, and like most private spaces, have their own rules to abide by. It's their right to make those rules whatever they want, and people can choose the rules that make a more pleasant space to occupy.

If you want the freedom to be hateful and hostile to people, feel free to hang out on 4chan. Forums are typically more tightly controlled, especially specific topic forums, with discussion tightly controlled to keep things on the subject so the site stays useful and not buried in irrelevant content.

  • 'Her' is the director of Homeland Security I clearly referenced, Kristi Noem, who claimed to be in California to remove Government Newsom from power.

This OP is an article criticizing Newsom for calling his wife the 'First Person' in a social media post.

Hope that clears up the details for you.

  • That's the justification they've used in court for sure, but did you listen to the words that came out of her mouth? That's the scary part. That's the person in charge of US Homeland Security, literally telling a town hall that they're here to remove their elected government.

And you're sitting here squawking about Newsom calling his wife a person.

  • Last week the director of Homeland Security told the people of California that the National Guard was deployed against American citizens in California for the purpose of 'liberating them' from their democratically elected leadership.

Is this the justification for his corruption? He called his wife a person?

No, I probably won't 'get it'.

  • How exactly does using the term 'first person' in one online post mean anything at all? This is the most pathetic nonsense I've ever seen. The only people looking bad here are the idiots slopping down this culture war bullshit.

  • People also shouldn't just be able to make money off of other people's creations without limits.

IMO, ideally we would implement a system of 'open licensing' where people could freely use others IP as long as they pay a public, standardized percent of revenue based on the usage.

  • It comes from the FFG Star wars RPG system and its method of creating multiple success/failure conditions. It's an entirely independent system to the light/dark side force mechanics.

That's fair if it's not solving a problem for you, but it does add something new that resonates with a lot of people (at least it did for me). I'm speaking from the Genesys side so I don't know how daggerheart handles it, but I absolutely loved it. I found it made skill checks more collaborative, my table would suggest ideas for how to interpret the roll, and having more to 'explain' got people more descriptive in how they talk about their actions. We went from 'I take a swing. Nope, that's a miss' to 'failure with advantage, ok I go in with my axe but I can't get through this guy's defenses. For my advantage, I want to hook this guys shield with my axe so the next attacker gets a boost die to hit'.

It does make checks more involved, but I prefer fewer, more impactful checks as a general rule anyway.

  • I'm nice to ai because that's how I typically type anyway, it's been shown to get better results. Using good vocabulary and respectful language seems to prompt the AI to use similar sources, which tends to increase the quality of the output.

  • I do, though not nearly as often as I'd like. I think people often get too hung up on how to meditate and try to force the 'empty head', but that's like starting out on challenge mode. The most effective method for me is to sit somewhere outside (preferably a peaceful place) and focus my mind on listening. Nothing else, just listening for whatever sounds are around, and naming them. Wind, birds, water, construction noise, whatever it is, just touch each sound, then listen for another.

I guess it's more of a mindfulness exercise technically, but it's all the same concept. It's grounding yourself in the physical world, quieting the constant chatter and focusing on something external and tangible.

  • I'm certainly no expert on what she's been doing, but how can you possibly make that assertion with that kind of conviction? How could you possibly know what she does vs what the people surrounding her are doing?

More importantly, do you actually think past revolutionary figures were doing everything themselves? If she's getting the people surrounding her to organize, then she is organizing them. That's leadership. Plenty of historical figures of note are the figureheads because they were the ones writing the checks, that's how things get done.

  • Plenty of good moves are slow, it takes time to setup a deep story. I hope you'd give Casablanca or Schindler's List more of a chance.

But Andor is a political thriller, it's not a fun action/adventure. If you think the beginning is boring, you probably won't enjoy the rest anyway, it's not for everyone.

  • That's pretty much exactly what I'm saying. If you offer software that requires outside servers to run, you should be legally obligated to release the code used to run the servers if you discontinue supporting that software. That doesn't make mmo's any different, just a minor change to how they handle end of life.
