FOSS does not exclude corporate interests. Most contributions to the Linux kernel for instance come from corporations, including Microsoft.

Edit: Also see Facebook entering the Fediverse soon. Their frontend JavaScript library is also open sourced by them. Their backend PHP version as well.

I used to play this game on an early VR headset. Descent on its own was already pretty nauseating. Add stereoscopic 3D and janky headtracking and puking was guaranteed. It was awesome!

There are already 5 or so Android apps for Lemmy, at least 2 iPhone apps and 2 Linux apps on Flathub. Go ahead.

If the available software doesn't work as you want it to and you have the skill and time to make something you like go ahead. Often enough in the open source world devs of "competing" programs actually help each other.

So in the end you will just make the world a better place with your contribution.

If I didn't have a Steam Deck already I would still get one.

1. It's one of few devices with Linux preinstalled.
2. The battery life is better.
3. It's much cheaper. Especially if you get the discounted 64 GB version and buy a larger SSD.
4. The touchpads, gyro, additional back buttons and Steam Input integration make it much better suited for playing general PC games that would never work on a gamepad.
