  • In a written statement, he said the website was an “obvious” fake and his attempt to “satirize” the bill’s intent.

Shamblin also tweeted about the site shortly after it was launched, accusing it of trying to “shut down churches for deadnaming.”

  • Since you want to avoid supports and cleanup, what I would do is modify the model to flatten out the inside of the dome. You can do it easily in most slicers by adding a cylinder part and squishing it until it's more like a disc.

A flat roof to the inside of the dome will cause it to switch to bridging for that section which won't be perfect but will be a lot better than stringing, especially if you play around with thick bridges.

  • Considering that Israel does the equivalent of an October 7 against civilians in Gaza roughly every few weeks, yeah whether or not rapes happened on October 7th doesn't really change the overall situation.

To put it into perspective, the October 7 death toll is roughly 1,200. Since then, the death toll in Gaza has been around 40,000. No amount of rapes on October 7th will absolve Israel or change the dynamic.

  • Same experience here - I no longer can even cast from the new app because the cast list is just empty. My partner can cast from iOS, but the new iOS app design doesn't appear to have a playback settings menu during cast playback, so we're forced to transcode instead of direct stream. It also has fits of buffering several times a day when LAN streaming.

I have Jellyfin running in parallel but the only Jellyfin app I really find palatable is Findroid on android TV but it's kinda in alpha right now

  • I do exactly this, both just docker containers in the same docker-compose. Both have the exact same media paths mounted. As long as you have good naming conventions (I let arrstack rename all my stuff) it pretty much just works and everything shows up in both just fine.

  • Aiui, back-feeding uncurated slop is a real problem. But curated slop is fine. So they can either curate slop or scrape websites, which is almost free. So even though synthetic training data is fine, they still prefer to scrape websites because it's easier / cheaper / free.

  • You can actually, that's what the AUR votes are for:

All packages are eligible for adoption by a Package Maintainer for inclusion in the extra repository, and the vote count is one of the considerations in that process; it is in everyone's interest to vote!

  • If it was only a small daily fee then it would be perfect for trading seedlings but you have to reserve a booth for the whole season (the fee is about $300 btw) and you have to pay a fine ($50) if you're late setting up your booth or don't give 48hrs notice that you won't be at your reserved booth any of the days it runs.

You also apparently need a sales tax license to participate.

In other words, like I said our farmers market is only for businesses. If you go stand in the corner and trade seedlings then you'll probably get kicked out

  • Our local farmers market unfortunately only really allows vendors and requires an application process (and a sales tax license) - ie you can't just hang out and trade seedlings and stuff with people without paying a booth fee (of ~$300) so it's really only for people running a business. There's also a fine for every day you're late to your booth so it's not feasible to pay for a space if you're not going to show up and sell stuff all season long.

You also can't apply for a booth later than like 4 months before the season (applications are closed in like Dec) so it's really not geared towards someone who isn't selling lots of product.

  • I used to get corrupted SD cards all the time when running Pis 24/7 (remote, outdoor, in an enclosure) so I finally switched to the white industrial SD cards and haven't had an issue since, so maybe that's worth a shot. I only use regular SD cards for temporary testing now.

(Edit: the ones I use are SanDisk industrial for reference)

  • It gets really addicting, and it's definitely easy to get carried away micromapping areas you know well. I try to keep in mind that lots of micromapping doesn't really help the average user (aside from sidewalks and kerb cuts, lots of stuff I mapped like light poles just don't show up in most maps anyway), and probably the best way to get the biggest impact with the least amount of work is by plotting the locations of shops and adding details like websites and opening hours since most people use maps for navigating to POIs. Even if you can't add any details, just plotting a pin with the shop name and type still helps a lot as people using streetcomplete will be asked about further details when they are in the area where they can pop into the shop and check those things. It's a really cool way to have a symbiotic community of people plotting stuff from home using satellite imagery and people on the ground surveying and filling in more details.

  • I recently finished mapping over 500 individual parking spaces of a parking lot on openstreetmaps, including every disabled space, 99 numbered reserved spaces, curb cuts, pedestrian access aisles, fire hydrants, grassy medians, trees, flowerbeds, and light poles.

It's actually been really good to get out of the house because I needed to check the numberings and exact placements of various things, to the determent of my wfh day job.

  • Hmm I see. I would definitely be more willing to be understanding if Andreas didn't follow up with the addition of a code of conduct that seems purpose written to shield himself from criticism under the guise of tolerance.

To me it feels like a doubling down and imo having a code of conduct that basically says you must tolerate all views seems like a recipe for garnering a crowd similar to that of rumble or kick.

  • Chrome is also developed by much more than 1 dev, which to me makes the views of a single dev irrelevant. But when 1 person controls the development and access of the community to participate like hyprland for example, then their views, policies towards bigotry, and the way they treat the community becomes much more important imo. Especially when there are no viable forks.
