  • There's an old A Wyatt Mann cartoon with an incredibly racist (obviously, given the author) depiction of a black dude saying gibberish into his cell phone (the words "bix nood" being part of this gibberish), and it became a meme.

  • My elderly aunt reached out to me out of the blue and offered to pay for my srs if I want it but can't afford.

    Like I hadn't even been thinking about it, partially cause it's scary but mostly cause I just assumed I would never be able to.

    But now that it's a possibility, I guess I should do some research. Not much has changed in the last 20 years right?

  • I've made a few, but most of them have never fought ::: spoiler my bots

    This is GIANT ENEMY CRAB, my first actually functioning bot. It's 1lb plastic antweight class, made of PETG (not actually ideal - most people use PLA+). He hangs out on my bookshelf, never got to fight but would probably shatter on first impact anyways.

    Then I made Jackalope, a full combat antweight which at least used actual combat robot parts and materials (the body is a flexible TPU, weapon is AR500, front armor is titanium). It was too floppy though and the belted weapon and drive pulleys didn't work great. Never competed.

    This is BBYGRL, a 3lb Beetleweight drum spinner and my first to actually fight. Went 2-2 after a whole lot of receiver issues that the other competitors helped me troubleshoot throughout the day. I wish I had some post combat pics cause it got fucked up real good.

    This is Spring Rabbit, BBYGRL's successor. Uses like 90% of the same parts in a new frame. You can see the damage to the aluminum spinner. I replaced the tpu body with carbon fiber nylon, which is maybe a weaker material but much more repairable. I still need to get it some steel "shoes" for front armor.

    Here is Licktoad, a 1lb that I am working on but is mostly complete.

    I've also had a bunch half-brewed and aborted projects that I'll probably never actually build. Like this abomination that uses rotating front forks to high-center the opponent before hammersaw swings at them.

    :::

    This is what I do instead of video games.

  • Made a new robot out of spare parts. 1lb, Plastic Antweight class. Not my design - my first kitbot, a Force Knight (https://teammalice.com/index.php/scar-kit-and-spares/scar-plastic-antweight-electronics-kit/). I just realized I had like 80% of the parts in my spare parts drawer already (and even the OG color filaments) and didn't have a plantweight yet.

    It's got a big wedge for horizontal spinners and some forks to get under other verticals and control bots.

    I don't really like the 1lb classes - it's too small and cramped - but the local arenas aren't built for my preferred 3lb Beetleweight class.

    Anyways, off to make a 3lb hammersaw as my next project. Or maybe even a 12lb idk.
