  • Languages are the one thing I tend to be fairly good at, but I have also never studied any Afroasiatic languages before. Could be fun, even if a challenge. Assuming I am not getting too old for such undertakings.

  • I really need to try to learn Arabic one of these days, it seems like such a useful language and I have always been really interested. There's too many languages I want to learn though and I might be hitting critical mass on that front.

Plus how can you go wrong with learning a language that has sayings like that.

  • Sounds like great news for Mexico, good for them. Especially having the big EV makers located locally, will be a huge asset. Shouldn't the capitalists in the states be excited for all the competition?

After a couple test-drives I did recently I actually am getting a BYD as my next car in the near future anyway. (and I live in Japan, we normally are pretty heavy on domestic cars). Really nice cars and quite reasonably priced.

  • I took a tour around the comments (I know I know, youtube comment sections are the one thing worse than reddit) and...there are actually some people who are like "Yeah, that backfired pretty hard".

The biggest cope I see is "Oh yeah well uh...they can't do it profitably enough so it isn't sustainable!". Like R&D stopped the second they had a working chip and isn't actively lowering the cost already.

  • All my Stellaris colonies have basically been progressive space communism. Or robots/hive minds. I can't bring myself to RP fascist xenophobes even in fiction.

Rimworld communities have similar "haha, warcrimes are fun, right?" issues. Yet I don't actually know anyone who plays rimworld that way regularly. Maybe people try it out once just because you can, but I don't know many that consistently do terrible things to their colonies. I've always built my RW colonies to be nice places to live, and try to maximize everyone's positive moods.

  • I don't necessarily mind it existing in fiction, anymore than any other hard reality can exist in fiction, but it depends on how it is handled. If the denizens of the world accurately recognize it as a horrible thing, it's very different to me than matter-of-factedly "we murdered all the native inhabitants of this realm and now it is ours!" takes.

I hate it when say...a race was oppressed by another race, and the player character single handedly settles generations of animosity between the two. Or when the oppressed people take back their land and are somehow portrayed as bad for not wanting to work with their colonizers.

  • Russia isn't communist (and seems to be doing just fine regardless), China has an outstanding quality of life and is arguably one of the best places to live in the world, and I quite enjoyed my time in the DPRK. Many of the issues the DPRK suffers is because of sanctions placed on them, not their own government.

You are missing a few horrible rote generalizations. Would you like to say something about Cuban supermarkets to get the full experience?

  • wear Palestinian clothing (whatever that is).

I would guess they are specifically referencing palestinian-designed keffiyeh with that one. Which has been banned in some places, I think Berlin specifically banned them in schools? Not a general ban in public though, at least not yet.

  • I have seen a few cases of people arguing that Gaza isn't a genocide because look at REAL genocides like in Xinjiang.

I have no idea how somebody can be so intellectually dishonest to themselves that they think the murder of innocent civilians documents in thousands of photographs and videos is less legitimate than the supposed "genocide" in Xinjiang without a single piece of evidence.
