To me the most important takeaway was that the core work of civilisation the core task that we organize all our societies around, is the perpetuation, the improvement and the continuation of our culture. The rest is accessory to this goal. Humans are the main product of humanity. Either by making them, educating them or improving the society they take part of.
This is actually such an important work that we do it often for free or at our own cost, and as such it is invisible to the GDP.
