The sentencing phase is still part of the trial. The trial isn't over.
- Would "only the best" lawyers be aware of this legalese courty kinda stuff?
  
  They're not unaware; this is the game. They make the request knowing it will be denied, it gets denied, right-wing media reports that Trump is being censored (he's not) because it's over (it's not) and they're just trying to punish him more (they aren't). But right wingers don't read any other sources, so it makes sense on the surface and they believe it because it fits the narrative.
- I wish the story included that. I’d bet most people aren’t clear on that fact.

Why?
That'd be like opening a jar of surströmming at a foam party.

Increase the gag order so he has less to fire up his crowds with
- Include that trump must wear a ball gag in public.
