Biden sure sounds a lot like Trump when talking about the border

apnews.com President Biden has said he'd shut the US-Mexico border if given the ability. What does that mean?

President Joe Biden has made some strong claims about shutting down the U.S.-Mexico border over the past few days.

And we think we can all agree this is not great. Biden has said that he will pursue "emergency authority to shut down the border" until it can get back "under control." As war funding is bundled up in the immigration negotiations, Biden's been eager to pursue a deal that unlocks this money while also allowing him to get "tough" on the border by restricting crossings and gutting asylum. This cynical negotiation, using immigrant communities as bargaining chips, is both a moral and electoral failure.
