The next spicy take is why we shouldn't build local passenger rail in any new zealand cities. I've been doing research on this topic because i was trying so hard to justify some cool rail infrastructure in auckland. Now to wait for an article about the auckland light rail cancelation to be posted.
Yeah people were getting needlessly abusive, and I don't think anyone was convincing anyone. Really, without published peer reviewed studies being linked, it's one word against another.
Plus there's the whole thing where people don't actually change their opinions based on internet arguments (often this is true even with citations).
We probably don't need to build rail in a lot of places; just use what is there which would limit it the cost to an investment in some railcars and staff.
Eg a feeder service from Waipukurau -> Napier airport (or even up to Esk Valley before heading back) could get passengers off the expressway which can get very congested at peak times and is probably cheaper than 4 laning it.
I'm not as familiar with where the rail goes down in Christchurch but a similar service running from Burnham through Chch to Rangiora could be worth investigating.
The problem is that rail costs a lot of money to build and a lot of money to maintain. This is ok when you have a metro city of 5 or 10million+ but a city like Napier would never be able to afford to maintain it.
The economically way to build rail is for freight rail to be built because they pay for its use and it's less of a burden on the government and then passenger rail forks off it.
Mostly for auckland I would like to see cycle expressways and better motorway and bus infrastructure. I'd also like to see them move driveways off the fucking main roads its dumb and causes so much traffic. Main popular roads should be footpath - bike - bus/t3 - car/ mirror
Any tips on removing super glue from skin? I was opening a new tube, and when I pierced the end it went everywhere! I looked online and it said detergent, lemon juice, or oil. None worked. I also tried isopropyl alcohol and meths and neither worked 🙁
Cyanoacrylate is a moisture cure adhesive. You have lots of moisture in your skin which helps it cure.
Cyanoacrylate is used in medical glue because it bonds so well with skin.
Depending on the cut/injury, the medic may apply glue instead of stitches.
It's doing its job.
Don't use acetone, it's bad for you.
I gave nail polish remover a go anyway on one patch and it didn't seem to make a significant difference. I don't have any digits stuck together so I think I might just wait it out until it wears itself off.
I was hoping to speed up the process since I had two fingers and a thumb almost covered over on side. It really made quite a mess. Not too bad now, though.
I gave it a go on the worst patch but it didn't seem to help much 🙁. One other finger seems to be wearing off pretty quick though. Maybe it won't last too long.
Been a pretty good day. Went out for morning tea then came home, played games and now watching Fellowship of the Ring with my wife as she hated it when it first came out but has since got into fantasy things so wanted to give it another chance.
