yeah, if USB 5 isn't all optional features are now mandatory. They need to fire everyone who has touched that project.
The issue is that usbc and, more specifically, driving usb c, isn't cheap. If it isn't cheap, no one would bother supporting it. We would just have yet another standard to throw in to the mix.
We're already there, since you can't trust if a usb-c device will work with a usb-c port.
They had an opportunity to resolve this with usb4, it's practically a worthless feature set because things remained optional. The U is for universal and they forgot that, there's no excuses it's just gross incompetence.
Out of a cannon. Into the sun.
I just want a 10-12' cable that can push through enough power to keep my VR headset charged while I am using it sitting stationary, and I'm not sure what to even get that isn't the $70 official fiber optic one. I ain't buying one of those again. Last time I had a headset, I got it just because I figure the quality of PCVR would be improved over Virtual Desktop but it was actually worse. I'm not buying one again.
If you're talking about the Quest 2/3, I don't think Facebook gave them the ability to charge fast enough to outdo the current draw of some games.
Supposedly both are limited to around 15W charging, so no matter what cable and charger you try, the battery will still drain in a lot of situations.
