The Bunya pines mentioned are from Australia and for thousands of years in fruiting season, huge numbers of Aboriginal people used to travel and meet in select locations where the Araucaria bidwillii groves stood to eat the seeds and celebrate various cultural things.
One of my favorite trees actually. There are quite a few in California.
