I've registered for the app already. Every day I check Google Play for available app updates. I'll see a notification that there are several apps with updates available... but it's never Boost... such disappointment every time. Haha!
In all honesty, I can't wait for the app to come out. Take your time, do it right. And don't do what Sync did... I'll just leave it at that.
It's completely fine if we go past tonight and end up in september. I think we all just want a good app. Out of curiosity I think I speak for a lot of us when I ask how everything is going and if it's coming now or if we should expect it to release one or two weeks into september? Thanks in advance my man!
I remember there being just a small one time fee to get rid of ads on boost. Hopefully it will be the same this time around. The solution sync came up with just looks ridiculous in context of lemmy and all the apps for it.
The main feature I'm hoping for is a way to block instances and keywords, but those should ideally come from the lemmy backend itself.
Yeah. Sync works well, I'm using it right now. But it was always my second favorite Reddit client after Boost and that pricing is just ridiculous.
I have bought the "Pro" version of just about every single Reddit client, but 22€ to remove ads that aren't even working on my device is just ridiculous. And all the interesting features are paywalled behind the Ultra subscription anyway.
In my country it's 117 dollars for lifetime Ultimate. 117 dollars. I don't even know what the most expensive app I've ve bought cost me. Maybe 8 or 9? Was prob a game for my son. Probably one he spent 15 minutes playing. To somehow end up making it feel like a worse purchase than that is a pretty good achievement.
20usd one payment is very fair. I'd pay more for Boost, if it works well and promises proper support I think Boost is worth 60usd which is what a new video game costs.
They can charge anything of course, it is a free market. It would be nice of them to spare $3 for each purchase as a donation to users current server. A checkbox perhaps?
Personally, I wasn't too worried by the pricing model of Sync, and I'm usually tight AF - I think post- the great 3rd party client purge of Reddit it's clear to me just how much value they brought to my browsing experience, so I'm happy to support the developers.
I think people who say these apps already exist and it's just a case of porting to the Lemmy APIs are massively underestimating the actual amount of work involved to do these apps justice on Lemmy. £20 or so to support the developer and gain an ad-free experience seems entirely fair to me!
Same here. I'm still on the free version of Sync because I'm holding out for boost, but if it takes a few more months I'll definitely need to drop for a lifetime of sync. I NEVER spend money on apps, but boost I bought twice and I absolutely will again.
