IMO this would be more powerful without the last bit. The irrational fear of socialism is unfortunately significantly more widespread than just the racist gun nut crowd. Thinking socialism is bad is kind of the default position in this country.
Yeah that last bit just insults the reader.
I would change the last part to “you gave up your freedoms on your own”. 66% of Americans either voted for fascism or sat on their asses while it took over. Of the remainder, how many people actually protested, organized, or raised funds for opponents of trump instead of just voting? Maybe 2%?
Honestly the loudest people on the left are a big reason the country went so hard right.
Yet MAGA is happy about it.
Blue and red MAGA
This doesn't look like a good argument to me. "While you were worried about this one thing, you might view as bad, this other thing did something bad"
That still doesn't make the first one good and provides nothing to change that view. Correct me if Im wrong, but between two things perceived as bad, people are more likely to choose the devil they know.
I think whoever the intended audience is has to do some of the (mental) work on their end. Ultimately this picture posing as text means for us to self-reflect (even though it targets USians, it still broadly applies to most of the developed world)
